Hi everyone,
My name is Olatz, and I work within the environmental law team at Youth and Environment Europe (YEE). I am hosting an online workshop for University students in Europe designed to explain the jargon and show you how the law can work for you, regardless if you have a legal background.
Demystifying the “Aarhus Convention”:
You do not need a Law degree to protect the environment. In fact, the Aarhus Convention protects the right for every person to live in an environment adequate to their health and wellbeing, for example by safeguarding democratic participation in environmental consultations. But how can this be done? Why is this relevant for young people?
This workshop is designed to explain this and show you how to exercise your rights to:
Access Information: How to find out what’s really happening in your local environment.
Public Participation: How to get a seat at the table when environmental decisions are being made.
Access to Justice: Understanding how we can hold decision-makers accountable.
Workshop Details:
Topic: Empowering Youth in Environmental Litigation: Learnings from the Aarhus Convention
When: 16th July, 18:00-19:30 CEST
Where: Online
Who: Open to all students - undergraduate, masters or PhD!
