Howdy,

I am in student government and was looking to use OPA for our upcoming class election. The issue is, we have some positions that are class specific and some that are general elections for the whole student body. In the past we've used google forms, where there is an option to select your class and then the form moves you to the correct election based on your selection. It doesn't seem like there is a similar option here.

Is there a way to conduct a single election with some at-large positions and some specific to the voter from your site?

Hello Colin,

I am sorry, that is not a feature we have. Each election is tied to a single set of voters.

The simple solution is to run an election for each class with the class-specific positions and then a general election for the whole student body. That's two elections for each student but I expect that to be a simple and easy-to-understand way to go.

The more complicated solution is to run an election for each class with the class-specific positions as well as the whole-student-body positions. Then, to determine the winners for the whole body positions, you would download the ballots for all the elections and create a count with all of the ballots. That's a lot more complicated and more work but I believe it would be slightly less expensive.

I highly recommend running some test election, to experiment. All elections are free if they have less than 25 voters and 10 candidates.

Let us know if you have other questions or run into any problems.

Best,
