In your case, could you please update the firmware of your Capsule II to the latest V9.5.16 through settings>device preferences>about>system update and see if you could control Netflix well via mouse mode on Nebula Connect app?
Continually press up and down on the nebula remote to keep the interface from disappearing. (Pressing left or right will skip forward or back and remove the interface. Idling for a few seconds will remove the interface as well and force me to repeat from step 1 again)
On the nebula connect app, use mouse mode to move the mouse to desired function, for example, subtitles. (All the while pressing up and down on the nebula remote to keep the interface from disappearing)
So I can now access all functionality, however it requires the use of two devices and complex movements to reach desired outcome. This is a very positive step in the right direction, but I am still working with customer support on how to get this the rest of the way to full functionality. If left and right prompted left and right, rather than skip forward or backward, it seems it would be perfect!
What I did was download a mouse toggle for android tv:
use Downloader, search on MATVT ( )
Set boss key to 4 (long press back button remote to enable mouse mode)
Under apps, special app access, display over other apps, allow MATVT
Under device preferences, accessibility, enable mouse toggle service.
The remote controls for the TV are NOT programmable, which means you cannot change the Netflix button to do something else. And yes, I agree that it would be help to have this buttom do something other than load an app that some people will use and others wont.
I noticed that in Kodi, you can use keymap editor addon to assign the sony remote to do specific things like open subtitles, context menu (right click) etc. BUT, the netflix button cant even be reassigned there, if you click it it opens netflix.
Netflix (as downloaded from Play Store) is rather cumbersome to operate. It doesn't recognize any of the playback control buttons on the remote (play, pause, ff, skip, etc.), the only way to control playback is using a mouse. Scrolling the list of episodes is irksome as well, buttons don't work and it seems the only way to do it is to drag it with the mouse (hold mouse button while moving it). Seems like the app is tailored to touchscreen interface rather than TV.
I used to own one of the early Android 3.x boxes where Netflix app was fully aware of all remote control buttons and easy to navigate. Is there anything that could be done (like notifying the Play Store to suggest selecting "TV" versions of the apps vs. "phone" versions)?
It may be that the Mygica ATV495 brings the Widevine DRM and can be capable to use Netflix for android tv
In the page of Spain within the specifications informs that brings DRV Widevine.

Pretty Shi*ty if you ask me. I have had the box for a year and not being able to play/watch anything on Netflix. Hmmm, big company as MyGica can't resolve the issue? with the oldest streaming app that has been on the market forever-NETFLIX. Not everybody has the ability to navigate through mygica/xbmc/kodi menus. Neither my 7 year old or my Mom can use it for Netflix.
Gotta feeling that my 1800 will be a last mygica product. This item should have not been released if it wasn't fully functional, nor it should have been advertised as having Netflix built in, because its 80% built in. Rest doesn't work.
So therefore we are not capable of modifying another companies app to work with an IR Remote
You will be able to use it with a mouse though, I am not sure what the issue your having when it comes to using a mouse??
We fixed this issue on our new units (495 PRO/1900 PRO) once we found out we need Widevine Level 1 DRM in order to use the Netflix TV app for Netflix 1080P HD,
We cannot add this to our older units because we can only add Widevine Level 1 DRM at the factory.
I use a mele Android TV box with a mele remote control. This works perfectly with Kodi and MXPlayer, but the netflix app is extremely uncomfortable. It only works, very temperamentally, with the mouse controls.
I am Primarily looking for Play vs Pause controls actually.. The rest sort of works, but pause is very conspicuously lacking. Is this actually expected or is there a way to get my play/pause button on my remote to work with the app?
