An interesting body of work I came across looking for examples of the sort of watercolor architectural renderings and photography that helped catalyze the Showa Nostalgia trend in Japan. I’m particularly interested in the storefront and street images and their expression of the ‘wabi-sabi’ aesthetic principle —which is rather over-hyped by US interior designers who don’t really grasp the concept (they seem to think it’s a more exotic ‘oriental’ version of 'shabby-chic’…), but does strongly relate to the ideas of adaptive reuse, upcycling, and urban intervention.
