| That's the most recent demo that was on the OYD website...I can't watch it now cuz I'm at work, but yeah, they don't know what they are doing, only that you breathe heavy and mooooove "more correct ways", blah blah blah. --- On Wed, 3/14/12, OneMindOneSpirit <mindf...@gmail.com> wrote: |
Now that I saw that "Bagwa switch" again, it looks horrible, just a bunch of stuff mushed together, par for the course with OYD. The reason I say that is when I learned circle-walking for the first time from my teacher, what he showed me in 10 minutes FAR OUTWEIGHS anything I learned in OYD over 19 years of training. Frank (in the video) is breaking fundamental Bagua structure almost everytime he "moo-ves." (during those switches)
Anyway, the movements themselves aren't necessarily bad for you, they just are not real/credible Bagua fundamentals or switches.
Also, the Pal-Gye (or Par-Gye from the old days) looks terrible...from my internal martial arts teacher, we are NEVER told to hunch over and/or arch our backs like that...it's more like a "sin" to do that in Bagua, Tai Chi or Xing Yi. |
