When I go to install Chrome, the installer pops up and it continues to say it's downlaoding google chrome, but nothing happens. I just uninstalled Chrome and I figured a reinstall would work perhaps but it doesn't seem to be. I was unable to get help in the chrome forum. I'm using Windows 7.

I don't know why this worked, but it did for me. I was trying to uninstall and re-install Google Chrome because my version was so far out of date I was told to do this. When I was trying to re-install Chrome, I got an error code of 0x80004002.

Rebook your computer / laptop in to Safe Mode. This is usually done by pressing f8 when your computer / laptop is booting up, but you may have to search online on how to enter your computer's Safe Mode. I don't think it matters, you can either arrow down to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. My choice was Safe Mode with Networking.

Right click on the downloaded file and click on "Open as Administrator."You should now see Google Chrome installing. Once you have installed Google Chrome, close out of all windows and reboot your computer normally. Once booted up, you should now be able to see Google Chrome on both your desktop and in your pinned area on your task bar. Double click to open, log into your account and all should be normal again.

Other reasons not to install a Studio on a production robot, is the risk of accidentally developing or hot-fixing a robot in production instead of doing it in the appropriate development robot environment.

Thanks for the reply, but a Chrome extension cannot work with FireFox.
This is really a principle question, as I can make the argument all extensions should have standalone installers available.
You are right how just the robot can be installed, but understand how this makes no sense if the robot cannot access extensions because they seemingly cannot be installed without the Studio component.
Cheers

The Chrome extension is bundled in the Studio setup. It is possible to install it even with no Internet access. The extension is installed globally if Google Chrome is installed system-wide, and per user if the browser is also installed this way....

@Srini84, iIn order to install extensions through commandline one needs to have Studio installed, or so it seems from looking at the screenshot you have provided? So how does one install these extensions when Studio is not installed like I detailed in my original post?
Is it as simple as copying the UiPath folder from %ProgramFiles(x86)\UiPath\Studio" to a random folder on a Robot VDI, and then executing the setupExtensions.exe with the valid parameter?
If so, this should be in the official docs Extension for Firefox

As i mentioned in the post, you can copy the setupExtensions.exe file which is installed in your development environment, from there you can paste in production robot machine folder and run from the command prompt

Actually one does not need to copy anything!
I just installed the Robot, on a clean machine, without installing the Studio. And all the files are installed!!

So the solution to the orginal problem is to:

Google only provides an online setup file for Google Chrome which installs the latest version of Google Chrome. It happens frequently that a user upgrades to a new version of Google Chrome and gets upset by an unpleasant feature, a missing option or an annoying bug. Therefore, some users want to roll back to an older version of Google Chrome to preserve a useful feature, option or support some legacy technology. However, is it really wise to use an out-dated verison of Google Chrome? The answer is NO since out-dated browsers usually come with security issues. A better solution to the problem is to use Slimjet browser, which runs on the latest Blink engine while offering more flexibity, features and options compared with Google Chrome. With Slimjet, we give users more choices to tune their browser to their own personal preference instead of forcing a majority style on everyone. Slimjet also integrates more features internally in the most efficient way so that you don't have to spend time dealing with unstable and resource-consuming third-party plugins. Best of all, Slimjet syncs all your Chrome data and settings via your Google account and is compatible with your favorite Chrome extensions. There is absolutely no learning curve for you to switch from Chrome to Slimjet. Give Slimjet a try now and you will never look back!

For users who insist on using an old version of Google Chrome and becoming vulnerable to security issues, you can find the right version of Google Chrome to download for your platform in the following sections.

Unfortunately, we only started to archive old versions of Chrome since Chrome 48. Chrome dropped support for Java, silverlight and other NPAPI plugins in Chrome 45. If you are looking for an old version of Chrome with support of Java, silverlight or other NPAPI plugins, you would have to use Slimjet Web Browser, which is based on Chromium and retains support of Java, silverlight and other NPAPI plugins.

The old versions of Chrome before V58 are packed as 7zip self-extracting executable. Just run the executable and extract the files under any folder on your hard drive. Then launch Google chrome with chrome.exe under the extraction folder. After V59, the archived chrome old version files are official Chrome offline installers. Just uninstall any current version of Chrome first and then run the downloaded installer. It's a one-click installer without any interactive UI.

Please notice that Chrome dropped support of XP and Vista since Chrome 50. If you are using XP and Vista, please download Chrome 49 or earlier, or download Slimjet Web Browser, which is based on Chromium and continues to support XP and Vista.

Note: Google Chrome stopped release 32-bit builds for linux since Chrome 49. If you are still using 32-bit linux and would like to be protected with the latest security patches as well, you can use Slimjet Web Browser, which is based the Chromium open source project and continues to support 32-bit linux.

Sometimes it can be just because you don't like a new update or the new version of your preferred browser. Different people have different reasons, for example, developers don't like the placement of tools and in other cases the favorite extensions might not appear so useful. In such circumstances, all you need is the same previous version. In case of Chrome, though Google doesn't provide you with any Source) to download older versions of Google Chrome, but if you are really comfortable with those you don't need to disappoint. Slimjet offers you all older version under one roof.

Google do not support any rollback to the previous versions of Chrome. But that doesn't mean, you cannot get the one. Yes, there is a simple way out to get previous version. Just uninstall your present adaptation, erasing each user's saved profile information, and then re-install the needed version. Here it is important to note that user may lose their bookmarks, history, and so on. Hence, be careful while you proceed with the same.

Now getting and downloading the prior versions of Google Chrome is possible. Slimjet share the old versions of Chrome, packed as 7zip self-extracting executable file. Download the one you need, run the executable and extract the files on your hard drive. Simply launch Google chrome with chrome.exe under the extraction folder. You can scroll above for different versions, available in 32- bit and 64- bit.

OKay I have no idea why my slashes are backslashes when I insert them here.
Ofcourse in my shortcut it looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --app= -bla-blaa-bla

Do you know why it is refreshing after a couple of seconds and then shows the default webbrowser version? I would like to run it as 'app' version.

Yes. I'm not a Windows user so I'm not sure but I think the method I'm using on my Mac must be the Mac version of what you described for Windows. This seems to be new with Sonoma (the latest Mac OS). At any rate, it's extremely easy to do on a Mac now. I haven't tested it yet, but all the indications I've received are that I should be able to make different desktop apps for different accounts, which would further speed up app development for me.

Actually, you don't need multiple profiles. They are kept separate by the Sonoma operating system. A separate "app" is saved in the users app folder for this purpose. I'm using several apps in that way now and it works very well.

I would love if we could open links to AppSheet Views inside of this standalone app.
We use Google Calendar and add the link to the AppSheet view in the description. So we can click on that and the AppSheet App opens on the right spot. But it always opens a new tab. On mobile, it opens the AppSheet App.

Our team is evaluating UI Vision as a testing tool some of our Army products. We are struggling to get xModules to installcorrectly in a disconnected environment. We are using Google chrome version 97.0.4692.99 and UI Vision version 6.3.3.

There is a way around this by editing the XModule installer and changing the list of allowed extensions IDs, but the by far easier solution is to use Firefox. Firefox does not change the extension ID of local (non-store) installations. Thus we recommend Firefox for offline use:
