Last month we implemented a new metadata ingestion module in
response to a problem spotted by a user. We used this to correct the
attribution records for about 1500 images. Although our metadata
ingestion process is highly accurate, we depend on the vigilance of
Ookaboo's users to help us find and correct problems. The new metadata
ingestion module is simpler and more flexible than the old module, and
may soon be used to improve other data records and for the ingestion of
new images.
An image that a user selected for Ookaboo became popular on reddit

Anyone who wants to spread the word about Ookaboo is encouraged
to look for images that are popular on that sort of site and share them.
We've also got an RSS feed that samples incoming images

Feedburner gives you the option of a daily email subscription,
which is attractively formatted.
We've brought in part-time help to advance the site, and we're
working on project plans. Over the next month we expect to make a
number of small changes to solve problems and reduce clutter. We're
also rethinking the API strategy, planning to produce a downloadable
RDF dump and a SPARQL endpoint that will make it easy to use Ookaboo
images in semantic web systems.
