Hi

I'm new to onyx, new to the whole vj thing, and am looking to use onyx
to support a spoken word presentation. It would be really handy to be
able to have a set of prepared text files containing single words, or
short phrases, to support the performance, so I was wondering: can
onyx import text files (.txt) containing text slugs for use with the
basic text patch for example? Ideally, what I'd like is a text patch
that would allow the selection of one from a set of text strings
loaded into a single file.

I'm also looking to use onyx to display twitter updates from an event
backchannel as text overlays. Has anyone looked at a patch that might
be able to support this, eg pulling on updates from a twitter search
feed, allowing the selection of a particular update, and then using
that as a basic text text string? (maybe even pulling the user's icon
into a background image filter?)

thanks
tony

You can use the BasicText patch to display text. You can paste text in
the text area.
You can put BasicText on the 5 layers then click on 'SAVE MIX file' so
it can be used the day of your presentation.

Twitter patch does not exist yet...
