Will Ontopia 5.0.2 work with Tomcat 6? I notice that is it Tomcat 5.5
that comes with the download.

Yes, it does work with Tomcat 6 also. Note that the lib directories
have changed somewhat in version 6.

Now that we're based on Java 1.5 I guess we should consider making the
upgrade to Tomcat 6 for the Ontopia distribution. Any thoughts on
this?

I agree.

I have now tried to copy all files from ${installdir}/lib into
$CATALINA_HOME/lib, and I have copied omnigator (and other Ontopia
webapps) into my tomcat 6. The webapps shows up in my browser but,
there are problems. Have you made any guide for deploying Ontopia
applications into other Tomcats than the one that comes with the
download? If not, I think you should :-) I fear I will hitting many
configuration issues until this is resolved and everything runs
smoothly...

I've spent a fair bit of time trying to evaluate the state of the
various web application frameworks lately, as there have been some
stability and compatibility issues with Apache projects moving to
Sun (JSTL), lack of documentation on some Tomcat features, and a
general move towards Glassfish. The world is pretty unstable right
now, and I've not come to any conclusions about Tomcat 6 yet, even
though I continue to develop using it. I have begun stripping out
any Tomcat-related code, or moving to similar Apache libraries
(e.g., Apache's FileUpload rather than Tomcat's), as even running
inside of Glassfish means some of the Tomcat features I'd
inadvertently hardwired into my own projects suddenly weren't
working or caused Jasper compilation errors, etc. Kinda messy.

I do like the fact that Glassfish/Grizzly uses Java NIO but I've
not yet figured out replacements for some of the Tomcat features,
such as the simple login.

I'm going to wait a few months to see if things settle down with
Glassfish as well (they just lost their main Grizzly developer this
week).

Yep, it works just fine. This application, for example, runs on Tomcat 6:

In Tomcat 6, where should I put tm-sources.xml? 'common/classes' isn't
there by default.
