This is the 2nd call for systems for the SemTab 2020 Semantic Web Challenge on Tabular Data to Knowledge Graph Matching collocated with the International Semantic Web Conference: http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/isg/challenges/sem-tab/

Tabular data to Knowledge Graph (KG) matching is the process of assigning semantic tags from Knowledge Graphs (e.g., Wikidata) to the elements of the table. This task however is often difficult in practice due to metadata (e.g., table and column names) being missing, incomplete or ambiguous.

This challenge aims at benchmarking systems dealing with the tabular data to KG matching problem, so as to facilitate their comparison on the same basis and the reproducibility of the results.

Datasets
----------------------

Round 1 is already open. Unlike in SemTab 2019, the target Knowledge Graph in SemTab 2020 is Wikidata.

Challenge Tasks
----------------------
The challenge includes the following tasks organised into several evaluation rounds:

    - Assigning a semantic type (e.g., a KG class) to a column: CTA task.
    - Matching a cell to a KG entity: CEA task.
    - Assigning a KG property to the relationship between two columns: CPA task

The challenge will be run with the support of the AICrowd platform: https://www.aicrowd.com/organizers/tabular-data-to-knowledge-graph-matching

Discussion group
----------------------
We have a discussion group for the challenge where we share the latest news with the participants and we discuss issues risen during the evaluation rounds:
https://groups.google.com/d/forum/sem-tab-challenge

Tentative Dates
----------------------
May 26: Round 1 opens.
July 20: Round 1 closes.
July 25: Round 2 opens.
August 30: Round 2 closes.
September 3: Best participants in Rounds 1 and 2 are invited to present their results during the ISWC conference and the Ontology Matching workshop. Check the ISWC student travel grants.
September 3: Round 3 opens.
September 17: Round 3 closes.
September 20: Round 4 opens.
October 4: Round 4 closes.
October 20: System paper submissions (preliminary version).
November 2-3: Ontology Matching workshop.
November 4-6: Challenge Presentation and prize announcement.
November 15: System paper submissions (final version).

Organisation
----------------------
This track is organised by Kavitha Srinivas (IBM Research), Ernesto Jimenez-Ruiz (City, University of Lonson; University of Oslo), Oktie Hassanzadeh (IBM Research), Jiaoyan Chen (University of Oxford) and Vasilis Efthymiou (IBM Research). If you have any problems working with the datasets or any suggestions related to this challenge, do not hesitate to contact us via the discussion group.

Acknowledgements
----------------------
The challenge is currently supported by the SIRIUS Centre for Research-driven Innovation and IBM Research.

Workshop on research data/objects management for Linked Open Science - DaMaLOS

Virtually co-located with the International Semantic Web Conference - ISWC 2020

Submission deadline: 17 Aug. 2020

Submission link: EasyChair DaMaLOS-2020 workshop

Call for Papers

=========================

DaMaLOS-2020 (ISWC co-located) workshop will explore what is required for Research Data Management to effectively instantiate Linked Open Science, i.e., Open Science + Linked Open Data (LOD) principles, including effective support for LOD, automation by, e.g., machine/deep learning approaches, and innovations to include supporting data elements such as the software used to produce/consume it together with tutorials showcasing their usage. Furthermore, data management should be complemented by other research objects management plans, e.g. software and workflows, in order to get an integrated layer supporting all the edges of Linked Open Science. In this workshop we will keep a focus on data management but we will also have opportunities to discuss how other research objects play an important role.

Please submit your contribution via EasyChair DaMaLOS-2020 workshop before the 17 of August. We welcome full (max 10 pages) and short/position (max 6 pages) papers on the following (or similar) topics:

  • Importance of Research Data Management (RDM) for LOD

  • Importance of other Research Objects Management (ROM) and their alignment with RDM and LOD

  • Special features/metadata required in RDM plans for LOD

  • RDM plans elements/data that can be automated, particularly for LOD

  • Links between RDM and ROM plans and how those could be automated

  • Extensions to current RDM plans to better support Linked Open Science, e.g., emergence of ROM

  • Integration/alignment between FAIRness assessment tools and RDM/ROM plans/tools

  • Research and training initiatives related to RDM/ROM supporting Open Science/Linked Open Science

  • Benefits of Linked Open Science over Open Science

  • How RDM/ROM plans and LOD can be used to improve collection and storage of (usually volatile) data produced at, e.g., conferences

  • How and what data produced by RDM/ROM plans could be automatically integrated into knowledge graph initiatives such as Open Aire, Research Graph or Web of Science

Important dates

=========================

  • Submission due: 17 of August 2020

  • Notification of accepted papers: 11 of September 2020

  • Camera ready papers due: TBD, probably by the end of September 2020

  • Publication of workshop proceedings: TBD, probably 2 to 4 weeks after camera ready

  • Workshop: 2 or 3 of November 2020
