Following up on our discussions during the IS’18 I suggest keeping track of the following three proposed projects (with first people/organizations interested in brackets):

 

• Contribute to building a generic SE Process ontology that can be instantiated by companies in various industries (with SAIC, BOEING and AIRBUS);

• Contribute to investigating the federated re-use of local domain ontologies (with SAIC, BOEING and AIRBUS);

• Contribute to building a generic Space Mission ontology that can be instantiated by companies (with AEROSPACE and AIRBUS).

 

Also we said we should follow up the evolution of the OWL standard.

I'd like to have a place to keep track of the three proposed projects.

We're continuing to press forward within SAIC on the first project. I look forward for to sharing with this broader team!

I hope to participate in an effort to formulate and qualify an ontology of generic SE knowledge products. I think a process ontology cannot be qualified regarding efficacy. Am I right?

Hi all,

I think this is part of what we have to look at. If we specify the SE processes as ontology, then we need to be able to instantiate those for a specific application context, and also deal with adherence, effectiveness and efficiency aspects of each instantiation.

Once we have some case studies in different contexts, we can also generalize or not certain of our findings.

INCOSE IW 2019 is approaching and it will be a great opportunity to meet again and exchange ideas regarding the open projects left at INCOSE SYMP 2018.

 

Do you have news about it? Let’s continue working on the project because it is a good approach to provide value and outcomes within the group to the SE practice.
