We are still trying to straighten out which RDA lines are needed to be added to our records.

How important is the 856-

We had an entry for Wonka that I catalogued and in our public catalogue it showed up with the proper cover but when you clicked on the record it was a different cover?

Our consortium up to now how arranged for the proper pictures to show up in system.

Can I control it so that it is correct by leaving the 856 in and not deleting it. Our CEO until last summer wanted me to delete all the 040, 3xx and anything that we hadn't used regularly before.

Still trying to figure out where RDA fits in our system.

If someone want to have a conversation I am open to it.

We use the 856 field for two purposes at the County of Brant: 1) links that will allow patrons to directly access online resources from our catalog for example 856 40 |uhttps://education.gale.com/l-koplcbpl/online_course/twk/detail/Teaching_Writing%3a_Grades_K_3.html and 2) links to import pictures for items that are not automatically imported into the catalog using the ISBN for example 856 42 |zCover Image|uhttps://olco.ent.sirsidynix.net/client/en_US/search/asset/24603/0.

How important this is to you, would depend on how important you feel it is to have pictures for all of your materials in the catalog and if you want your patrons to have direct access to digital content directly from your catalog, so I can’t answer the question of how important this would be to you.

When I import records from other libraries, I delete any 856 records since they would link to someone else’s database potentially creating dead links.
