Hey everyone, here's a great opportunity to work with SYC working on a fantastic project!

 

SUSTAINABLE CAMPUSES NATIONAL CONFERENCE COORDINATOR

 

Job Classification:    4 MONTH CONTRACT, Full-time

Position Title:             National Conference Coordinator, Sustainable Campuses

Application Deadline:  May 24th final date

Wage:                         $12/ hour

Location:                    Flexible

Start Date:                 May 31st

 

Position Concept:

 

The Sustainable Campuses Conference Coordinator will work alongside the National Program Coordinator and the Conference Host in overseeing the planning and implementation of the 12th Annual Sustainable Campuses Conference.

 

Support and direction will be given from the Conference Planning Committee, as well as the SYC National Program Coordinator.

 

Project Overview:

 

The Sustainable Campuses project is the leading initiative from the Sierra Youth Coalition. The project seeks to inspire, inform, train, and support Canadian students in the pursuit of social and environmental change through their on-campus activities. The project focuses on supporting students in the development and implementation of sustainability projects on their campuses.

 

The 12th Annual Sustainable Campuses Conference is an opportunity for students from across Canada to participate in trainings, skill sharing sessions and have key conversations around implementing strategic campaigns across their regions. Of course, this is also a great time to meet like-minded students and become inspired by the youth sustainability movement happening at universities and colleges across our country.

 

Responsibilities:


1)      Promotion and outreach to conference delegates

2)      Conference fundraising (cash and in-kind donations)

3)      Coordinate the organisation of speakers and workshops

4)      Conference logistics (travel, accommodations etc.)

5)      Coordinate the volunteer conference advisory committee

6)      Other conference tasks as necessary

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Between the ages of 15 and 30
  • Unemployed and out of school (at the time of application and placement)
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been granted under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work in your province or territory
  • High School Graduate (Have yet to complete a Post-Secondary Education)

 

Preferred Qualifications:


¨       Possess knowledge of campus sustainability initiatives

¨       Previous event organization experience

¨       Knowledge of fundraising

¨       Strong writing and communication skills

¨       Ability to work independently

¨       Strong ability to multi-task

¨       Previous experience in managing logistics and budgets

¨       Experience supporting volunteers

¨       Previous experience with the Sustainable Campuses Project and/or Conferences will be considered an asset
