Hey there!
Looking for something to do this weekend?... Like hanging out in refreshing watersheds WHILE helping the environment?
see below for details on check your watershed day happening in multiple communities across southern Ontario!

................................

5th annual Check Your Watershed Day with EcoSpark

Spend a fun day outdoors volunteering in the 5th annual Check Your Watershed Day with EcoSpark (formerly Citizens' Environment Watch)!

Teams of 2-3 volunteers will measure small streams firsthand so that water and fish movement around the Oak Ridges Moraine can be better understood. No experience is necessary, as you will receive free training on how to measure stream width, depth, and flow.

This is a great event for family, friends, and anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in the environmental field. Gather people together to join your Stream Team, or come out and meet new people! Be a Stream Team Leader from 8:30am to 4:00pm or a Volunteer from 11:30am to 4:00pm. Teams will meet at their watershed locations for training, lunch, and equipment distribution (all provided) before driving to their measurement sites together.

This year, we're checking three Moraine-based watersheds:

East Cross Creek, Blackstock Creek, and Southern Lake Scugog Tributaries with Kawartha Conservation, meeting at:
Alderville Black Oak Savanna
13940 Old Scugog Road
Blackstock, ON

Gages Creek with Ganaraska Conservation, meeting at:
Cartwright Town Hall
2216 County Road 28
Port Hope, ON

Percy Creek with Lower Trent Conservation, meeting at:
Alderville Black Oak Savanna
8467 county Road 18 (just west of Hwy 45)
Alderville, ON

*One vehicle is needed per Stream Team to visit the monitoring sites. Volunteering the use of your personal vehicle is appreciated, and carpooling is encouraged!*

To register, or for more information, contact Lori Dagenais at 647-258-3280 x 2009, or cy...@ecospark.ca. You can also check out our event page:
