You have the right idea. It is all about the $$$$. An excuse for
governments to profit more from the people. To server their masters and
collect taxes.
Going "green" or reducing emissions means it will cost more $$$ to
everyone. Simple fact. Do you want a green battery powered car? It
will cost much more than a real car because those batteries suck for
longevity and will need to be replaced. Ontario had the very first
city bus fleet battery powered and they found out this year that the
batteries only lasted 50% of what the manufacturer promised. The
busses were scrapped and the future contracts cancelled because it was
too expensive to operate them.
Any of you rocket scientists figured out that those precious laptops
that people MUST have instead of a real desktop computer are great and
all until 3-4 years later. Man the battery life sucks. Then the
education part comes into play.... you find out how much a replacement
battery costs which is damn near the cost of a new computer anyways.
Takes the same amount of power and time to charge it up but the
battery lasts but 1/3 the time. How's your cell phone battery after 4
years? I've got a 1985 truck that just keeps on going as long as I
keep putting gas in it. Cheap repairs and that keeps on a rockin like
the Energizer bunny.
Do any of those touting tree huggers actually put their $$$ when their
mouths are? Be the first to post your Sask Power bill then where you
have volunteered to pay 20% more for your electricity because you are
buying wind power energy which is much more expensive than the coal
power.
The joke that is Al Gore is laughing because he is smarter than all of
us. His pay is now $200,000/ engagement and he fly's all over the
place to rake in the money on a theory that has been proven flawed.
His energy consumption for his homes in the US alone is $30,000 per
year. Don't do as I do, do what I say.
That red headed chick Gillian Anderson from the X-Files was yapping
this year at what a horrible thing flying is and that people should be
more green to travel. A well known anti global warming opponent with
press credentials asked her how she is traveling between all the US
states to her speaking engagements. She tried to dodge the question
but it was discovered that she flew and the security shuffled the
reporter from the conference and banned him from all engagements.
The only way to succeed is if the population is with you and agrees to
pay more. There must be a carrot at the end of the stick. Amsterdam
has a huge amount of people in a small area (plus they grow tulips
year round). They implemented a punishment in such a way that if a
person owned a vehicle for driving around, it would cost roughly 1/3
the average salary of an average worker (licensing, parking, fees).
The carrot comes in a way such that for $45/year, you get a swipe card
and the city supplies 40,000 bicycles at stands all over the city.
Swipe your card and you get a bike for 2 hours. If you want it longer
than that if you were riding to the country, there is a small rental
fee. City workers move bicycles around to keep all the bike stands
stocked and they repair them as required. Everyone is happy.
A most spectacular way to fail is to only offer a stick as punishment.
Stephen Dion. Charge fees and duties to anyone producing carbon and
gather the money from the west only to transfer it to the east. The
carrot?...... only beneficial if you are in the government and want
that $$$ to buy things the government wants to spend it on. Political
suicide.
Going green will always rest on the peoples willingness to pay more.
No real politician will forge a path for mother earth and impose new
taxes or restrictions. Democracy has a way of punishing that.
As North Americans, we are spoiled, fat and love excess. We see the
vast amount of land and space around us and we don't see the
emergency. The only way to bring us in line is to charge $10/horse
power on anything over 150 hp. Got a 300 hp Dodge Hemi-roidal
vehicles you require less than 3 seconds to pass someone while you are
all traveling at 120 km/h? Fine, $1,500/year extra is all that takes.
What you would see is two things:
(1)all our vehicles will look like the ones in Europe. They get the
job done efficiently and there is no fat excess to them.
(2) The political party that implemented such a law will be the room
mate of Grant Devine for the next 30 years or until everyone in the
countriy forgets..which ever one is longer.
>The more that governments talk about trying to control global warming
Protest the Farce: for ten years we've been in a cooling mode. Its a
tax grrab.

As we breath the ozone, litium, lead and other byproducts of our
electric cars.
Sort of like which is better for a dump, incadecence or a little mercury
vapor and droplets with your water?
Greenies need to learn how to think before they leap.
