Nuvo Network Management's IT Support team is currently seeking to fill the position
of Database Administrator for our Ottawa office.
Your challenge:
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology Support, the incumbent will:
Establish and maintain procedures to ensure the security, integrity, audit
ability and recoverability of database information
Promote the use of methods and procedures to optimize performance, efficiency
and maintainability of Nuvo's database systems
Review, approve and implement changes impacting the database
Conduct long term requirements and capacity planning of the database
Service the database backup and disaster recovery activities with respect to
multiple production systems.
Implement technical enhancements and maintenance repairs corresponding to
business requirements and design modifications.
Work on multiple major production systems and ensure the assigned databases
perform within the threshold of established corporate or inter-departmental service
level agreements
Create, update, maintain and review system documentation to ensure it is kept
current
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a computing field
4+ years database administration experience in management of relational
database management systems
Must have extensive knowledge of SYBASE administration tools
Experience with other database management systems such as Oracle and MS SQL
would be a definite asset
Understanding of and ability to develop scripts and procedures
Working knowledge of Client/Server systems in the UNIX and Windows
environments
