Hello,

Today (6 July 2025) I saw two male Comet Darners at the New Credit sewage ponds in SE Brant County. This is the first time I think I have seen them at sewage ponds. However, these are not typical sewage ponds (what are typical?) as these ponds support well over 100 Midland Painted Turtles and likely a few dozen Snapping Turtles as well as fish. I've seen Osprey hunt here and catch good-sized fish.

These are first Comet Darners I have seen in several years. There were a few stormwater ponds in Brantford with small populations in the past but I have not visited these ponds in a few years so I am not sure of the status of these populations. There are no recent reports here at any rate from anyone.

Bill
