The site currently has a limited grid connection to run the stone crushers only and includes a lot of mobile construction equipment currently all running on diesel.
Within the coming few years it is envisaged to have the stone-quarry site completely diesel-free, employing only battery-electric construction equipment (e.g. excavators, wheel-loaders, haulers, trucks etc..).
This will require a lot of battery charging infrastructure to be installed on site, to be supplied by renewable power sources. In other words, the stone quarry site is to be electrified through transformation to a microgrid, having a limited connection to the main grid, and majority of the energy demand being supplied by PV, wind turbine, site battery storage etc..
In view of this transformation, can the OnSSET tool/software serve as a good tool to analyze and compare the commercial feasibility between implementing an AC microgrid versus a DC microgrid at the stone quarry site?
Would appreciate some kind feedback!
Thanks in advance!
