Facebook, Twitter, they are the tools of the "cool kids". They can
also we a liability if you end up embroiled in litigation.

This article summarizes the issue particularly about Facebook. It is
also oriented towards the United States. However, other countries
have their own laws that may be different. Additionally some
countries may "routinely" record some digital traffic leaving the
country or coming in. (The US is building a HUGE "data warehouse" in
Utah.)

It was said years ago, never say anything in e-mail that you would not
want your mother to see, or on the front page of the New York Times.
It still applies and it applies multiplied in today's digital world.
In the paper world you had a chance of making something "disappear."
In the digital world it about NEVER disappears and there are likely
copies in more places than you might believe. That kool kid stuff can
also leave tracks of where you were and when.

What you post on Facebook may come back to haunt you, so consider that
when posting. Your phone may be recording or leaving tracks of where
you are/were and when you were there. The iPad or tablet will be
leaving tracks of where you were.

Litigation is not fun, and thinking ahead can maybe save you some grief.
