For example, creating a plan to fly from cyyz to ils rwy 08 at cytz (short distance i.e. Toronto to Toronto island airport). Waypoints that I can find are too far past the destination to make it practical. I am almost sure there are easier & better ways to do this quickly. maybe flying from vors etc, not sure.
To independently work on my own, I am looking for a complete detailed Navi graph reference manual with features/options with scenario based examples on creating flight plans in various ways, tricks and shortcuts.
There are some excellent videos at

By the way, last night I tried to be creative doing the following and got closer to desirable results for the very first time, however still without any specific guidance or steps to follow, verify and fine tune my trial & error method.
Flying out from a VOR adjacent to cyyz straight into ILS 08 at cytz. It seemed to work however instead of the usual GPS, I had to fly out starting with VOR2 instead selected with the cdi switch. This took me to the ILS rwy 08. Then I manually switched to LOC1 at that point to get connected with the cytz ILS 08 rwy waypoints.
I believe a NaviGraph reference manual in this situation could have possibly made a difference here in answering those WHAT, IF, WHY, WHEN, WHERE & HOW type factual reference information from which I can then deduce specific solutions for my situation.
I just recently picked up the CRJ but am having a navdata issue. While my Navigraph FMS Data Manager automatically scanned for and added the Aerosoft CRJ Professional and installed the data no problem, and the FMS sees the correct dates for the current AIRAC cycle (2013 at time of writing, see attached screenshot), it doesn't use the correct navdata and pulls outdated waypoints and procedures; for example, out of KORD it references ORD5 which no longer exists.
From other forum posts about Navigraph, it looks like the Data Manager is putting everything in the correct location (default install locations, nothing special here) but the aircraft just isn't using the right data. Is there some additional step I may be missing? Navigraph is putting the updated PROC NavData in Aerososft CRJ Professional and updates the five text files in NavData within Aerosoft CRJ Pro v5 and leaves the PROC folder in there untouched. I imagine if I copy over the data from the first directory into PROC it will work but I shouldn't have to do that in the first place right?
I have also just had an issue with a flt from KPAE to KPDX where I could not see the PAINE6 departure in the CDU, after uninstalling it (for 'other' reasons) and reinstalling it all of a sudden re-appeared and there was my PAINE6 Dep, actually, which version are you running (?), my re-install was to upgrade 2.2.0.0 to 2.2.0.1 I think.
The data in there is the updated PROC data which the aircraft is not using, for example the SIDS and STARS for each airport. Whether Navigraph Data Manager isn't putting them in the right place or the aircraft isn't looking at the right data when a Navigraph cycle_info.txt is present is what I think the problem here is. I did redownload the latst version to make sure I was already on it and it does still do the same thing. It's just weird to me that Navigraph is moving the PROC data to a different folder instead of just putting it directly in the aircraft unless the aircraft is meant to look in the other folder as well?
Update: So I went ahead and downloaded the latest manual installer for the CRJ data instead and it does indeed put the PROC files in the correct location within Aerosoft CRJ Pro v5, looks like this is an issue with the FMS Data Manager itself? Because even if I set a manual mapping for the CRJ it still does that same (incorrect?) folder structure. If I'm not the only one I'd be surprised if this specific issue has gone unreported for this long.
Navigraph users might not realize that the procedures are not getting updated, since Navigraph does correctly update the other nav data files, (including the AIRAC effectivity date that displays in the FMS).
Yes indeed, actually I think I also had this issue with some other add-on some years ago, but the Navigraph FMS Data manager tool was in its infancy then, I had been so used to the 'stand-alone' instllers that I just continued to use 'as is' for while until they sorted it out (eventually).
For a while now, I have been manually downloading X-Plane nav updates from Navigraph and dropping the files into the custom data folder. In the Navigraph manual download area for the Eclipse 550, at the top of the list is "Aerobask Skyview" which I downloaded. There is also the X-Plane GNS430 file which appears to have the exact same folder structure as the Skyview folder. The folder(s) for both are: Navdata, then within that folder is "Proc" then individual files: Airports, ATS, cycle_info, Navaids & Waypoints.
I dropped the Proc folder as well as the above files into my XP Custom scenery folder then started up XP and loaded the 550. Still no navdata or any data whatsoever in the GTN 750/650. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the reply. However, I don't have a X-Plane 11/Custom Data/GNS 430 folder. Are you saying I just copy the navdata folder and 2edd1319-de94-491d-91c5-80b4afd2db6a.index into the Custom Data folder?
i have the problem, when i m insert the manual route from navigraph that the ATC let me only fly at 13.000 feet. Even if the trip is around 2 hours fly time. Anyone have a solution to get higher? I set the FL Crz to FL330 nothing happen. i m only allowed ti fly FL130.
ATC does not know your planed flightlevel when entering the fpl manually into MCDU. It only knows it when you use the ingame flightplaner (worldmap) or load a .pln file. So in your case you have to ask ATC via the ATC panel in flight for clearance to a higher level by x feet (max is 10000ft) and repeat this until you are cleared to the level you want to fly at.
I'm a new user to Navigraph data, my first try today. I installed and ran the Navigraph FMS Data Manager, but it can't find my XP11 install. I'm on a Mac so the run-time file is "X-Plane.app". When the FMS Data Manager tries to find the run-time executable is appears to be looking for an .exe file- so it appears to spend hours searching for the install. I have tried to manually point it to XP11, but once inside the root folder it can never get to "open" as it's not finding the file-type that it's looking for- at least that's what appears to be happening.
Forget the FMS data manager. Just go to the "manual install" option on Navigraph's site (under Products, FMS data), and grab the XP 11 native data. This will come in as "xplane11_native_1705.zip". Unzip it, when it will appear as a folder called "xplane11_native_1705". Open it, and place all its contents into your X-Plane 11/Resources/default data folder - overwriting (replacing) the existing contents. There will be a CIPF folder, and 3 .dat files, plus two other files. That's it.

The problem with that 'fix', is the next time you run the Installer/Updater because you have some other problem or LR issues an update to X-Plane the X-Plane 11/Resources/default data folder will get overwritten if your not very carefull. The prefered location for all user updates is X-Plane 11/Custom Data folder.
On a Mac too...to follow up on what @cessna729 said you may also in the future/now have multiple aircraft and/or multiple copies of XP11 (beta/non beta etc). I recommend the manager because it's so simple and it remembers everything...below are a few Mac mapping pics.
The cycle info I've highlighted is for default X-Plane 11 aircraft as well as some payware and freeware aircraft. You will also note a GNS430 and UFMC folder; these are for particular payware aircraft and need to be updated as well with the current AIRAC cycle info.
However, I'm surprised to learn that you could put the CIPF folder and the .dat files into the Custom Data folder as well. Does this mean that X-Plane 11 then ignores the Default Data folder when the new "proper" X-Plane 11 planes access the Navigation Data? If so, why bother to have the navigation data in Default Data?
@ fwattyov: For some weird reason my manager seems to have found XP11- something I would like to check is that it's not updating an older beta of XP11 that I had saved on my G: drive. How do I check the path that the manager is addressing?
1) You can check the path several ways the easiest is to scroll-over the shortened Navigraph path...see pic below. So your cursor sits on "Users/.../GNS 430" and you get your full path. I've made that error in the past with XP10/11 backups on my Promise Pegasus. That's why I use the manager now...easier to point back and forth etc...dragging and dropping tends cause files to go missing/corrupt etc.
2) Assuming you meant GNS 430(9)...check your path and try updating again: choose only "X-Plane GNS430" as shown above...I've noticed that Navigraph can stall 24 to 48 hours after a new AIRAC cycle is released...so I check/update them all but end up doing the last one GNS430 by itself...or I wait 3 or 4 days after Navigraph sends me the AIRAC update email.
I'm not positive but think LR/XP11 may be designed this way to further/help aircraft developers so they don't need to include or deal with NAV data as in the past...also the new XP11 default GPS/FMS is capable of handling complete AIRAC information.
