Snoopy looks pretty good... It will crawl and submit forms as well...

I don't have dependencies on Pear or any other lame abstraction
layer...

It gets right down to the nitty gritty and acts as a real http
client...

I haven't actually used it... but of all the packages I've seen so far
it looks pretty good...
