Job Title: Tech Lead API Development & Integration

Location: Dallas, TX, Arlington, TX, Raleigh, NC, Durham, NC

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 12+ years designing, building, and operating production-grade Java web services and API platforms at scale.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and building highly scalable backend platforms using open-source technologies.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems fundamentals: consensus, CAP trade-offs, eventual consistency, idempotency, backpressure, circuit breakers.
• Proven experience designing systems handling high QPS / low latency / petabyte-scale data (quantify: e.g., "100K+ RPS, sub-50ms P99").
• Strong experience designing and building scalable Microservices/Event Driven Architectures, including RESTful APIs, JSON-based services, and event driven asynchronous flows.
• Own architecture and design for org-wide platforms (not just individual services), with measurable business impact.
• Act as a technical tie-breaker across teams; resolve cross-org architectural disagreements.
• Experience with multi-region, HA, and disaster recovery architectures (RPO/RTO planning, active-active designs).
• Deep expertise in API development, including API contract definition, versioning, isolation strategies, and service decomposition.
• Experience with event streaming (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis) and CQRS/Event Sourcing patterns.
• Proficient in working with both relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, optimization, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks, including, Micronaut, Spring Boot, ExpressJS (for Node.js), or similar server-side technologies.
• Expertise with AWS, including deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure services.
• Solid knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, GitHub, NPM, and automated build/deployment processes.
• Experience with backend testing frameworks, such as JUnit, Mockito, Spring Test, or equivalent backend testing tools.
• Drive cross-team initiatives without direct authority ("influence without authority").
• Foster a culture of written communication, code review rigor, and blameless learning.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially for partnering with global cross-functional teams
