Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building and supporting production applications using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Next.js, Python, SQL, and AWS.
This role requires someone who can take ownership of complex backend systems, design scalable services, work directly with databases, build integrations, and safely migrate legacy business logic into modern applications.
The candidate should be comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, writing production-quality code, and supporting applications after deployment.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and Next.js.
· Develop and enhance member-facing self-scheduling applications using Next.js.
· Build backend services supporting clinician scheduling, availability, geographic routing, priority scoring, and telehealth scheduling.
· Design and develop REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous integrations with external systems.
· Work with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including complex SQL queries, query optimization, database design, and troubleshooting.
· Analyze and optimize database performance using query plans and other database performance tools.
· Review existing stored procedures, understand the underlying business logic, and migrate that logic into application code with appropriate automated tests.
· Develop Python services and data pipelines for integrations, data processing, and AI/LLM-related applications.
· Work with AWS services, including RDS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, ECS, and Fargate.
· Develop secure and scalable cloud-native applications using containerized deployments.
· Build integrations with external systems such as telephony, geocoding/routing platforms, and healthcare/health-plan systems.
· Design reliable asynchronous processes with proper error handling, retries, logging, monitoring, and idempotency.
· Implement automated unit and integration testing to ensure application reliability.
· Create safe and reversible database migrations and application deployments.
· Participate in architecture and technical design discussions and contribute to engineering best practices.
· Review pull requests and write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
· Troubleshoot production issues and provide support for critical systems when required.
· Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Required Skills
· 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications.
· Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and the Node.js ecosystem.
· Strong experience with NestJS or a comparable Node.js backend framework.
· Production experience with Next.js.
· Strong knowledge of Node.js, REST APIs, microservices, and backend architecture.
· Advanced SQL skills with experience in both PostgreSQL and MySQL.
· Ability to analyze query execution plans and troubleshoot database performance issues.
· Strong understanding of database design, stored procedures, migrations, and query optimization.
· Hands-on experience with Python for backend services, data processing, or integrations.
· Strong AWS experience with:
o Amazon RDS
o Amazon S3
o IAM
o AWS Secrets Manager
o ECS
o Fargate
· Experience with Docker/containerized applications and cloud deployments.
· Strong understanding of API integrations and asynchronous processing.
· Experience writing automated tests and maintaining production-quality code.
· Strong understanding of application security, logging, error handling, and monitoring.
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
· Experience in healthcare, health plans, telehealth, or healthcare technology.
· Experience with healthcare integrations involving eligibility, rosters, and results.
· Experience with AWS Bedrock and Claude or other LLM technologies.
· Experience with pgvector, vector databases, semantic search, or MCP servers.
· Experience with telephony, geocoding, routing, or scheduling platforms.
· Experience migrating legacy applications or stored-procedure-based business logic to modern application architectures.
· Knowledge of TCPA and 10DLC compliance for communication systems.
· Experience with CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
