On September 18, 2001, the experimental V (originally to be called Ecstatic Fanatic) was released to mixed reviews. The first single was "Simple Creed", which featured a rap by Tricky, but the events of 9/11, which occurred a week before V was released, meant that the melancholic "Overcome" received significant airplay and became the album's selling point. V reached number 22 in the US. Also in 2001, Live contributed a live version of the song "I Alone" to the charity album Live in the X Lounge IV.

After a concert in July 2009, Live announced that the band would take a two-year hiatus to work on other projects.[citation needed] Kowalczyk recorded his solo album Alive, and the other band members formed a group with Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy of Candlebox, called The Gracious Few.[13] That band proceeded to record a self-titled debut album in California for release in September 2010. On November 30, 2009, Taylor revealed that the "hiatus" could become a permanent split.[14] The other members of Live accused Kowalczyk of unreasonable demands in contract and salary negotiations.[15]

On June 8, 2011, Taylor revealed that he, Dahlheimer, and Gracey would restart the band without Kowalczyk. He made no mention of any new lead singer, but said, "We'll have to begin addressing the hole left by our singer's departure". He added that, "I need to feel Live once again without the constraints that were placed on it over the last few years. Chad [Gracey], Patrick, and I invested most of our lives to writing, recording, and performing the songs of Live. We deserve a chance to reconnect with the fans to say goodbye to the old era and hello to the new."[16] Kowalczyk disapproved of their decision. He complained that "they obfuscate that it's not the real band. They don't say that it's not the original lineup. They just kind of go out and surprise people, and it's really sort of lame".[17]

Live returned from their nearly three-year hiatus on March 12, 2012, with Chris Shinn, formerly of Unified Theory, as their new lead singer. The new lineup performed before an invited audience at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York. They performed with new touring members, including Gracious Few bandmate Sean Hennesy on rhythm guitar and Alexander Lefever on keyboards.[19][20] In July 2012, Live commenced more legal proceedings against Kowalczyk for misuse of the band's name while promoting his live performances.[21] Live's first major tour with Shinn was as part of the Summerland Tour 2013, playing 35 shows across the US. Other featured bands were Everclear, Filter, and Sponge.[22]

Is a live image suitable for me? Here are some thingsto consider that will help you decide.

  • Flavors: The live images come in several "flavors"providing a choice of desktop environments (GNOME, KDE, LXDE, Xfce,Cinnamon and MATE). Many users will find these initial packageselections suitable, installing any additional packages they need fromthe network afterwards.
  • Architecture: Only images for the most popular architecture,64-bit PC (amd64), are currently provided.
  • Installer: The live images containthe end-user-friendly Calamares Installer, adistribution-independent installer framework, as alternative to our well knownDebian-Installer.
  • Size: Each image is much smaller than the full set ofDVD images, but larger than the network install media.
  • Languages: The images do not contain a complete set of languagesupport packages. If you need input methods, fonts and supplemental languagepackages for your language, you'll need to install these afterwards.
Official live install images for the stable releaseOffered in different flavours, each differing in size as discussed above, theseimages are suitable for trying a Debian system comprised of a selected default set ofpackages and then install it from the same media.

To address these limitations, we have combined Debian Live with Clonezilla as "Clonezilla Live," a software that can be used to easily image and clone individual machines. The primary benefit of Clonezilla Live is that it eliminates the need to set up a DRBL server ahead of time and the need for the computer being deployed to boot from a network. Clonezilla Live can be used to image or clone individual computers using a CD/DVD or USB flash drive. Though the image size is limited by the boot media's storage capacity, this problem can be eliminated by using a network filesystem such as sshfs or samba.
2. How to install Clonezilla Live ? To install Clonezilla live, the basic steps are to download pre-build Clonezilla Live then put it in a boot media (CD, USB flash drive or USB hard drive). Two types of files are available, iso and zip. The former one is for CD, the latter is for USB flash drive. Besides, you can put Clonezilla live on hard drive or PXE server, too.

  • For CD/DVD:
Download an ISO file for CD/DVD. Then you can burn the iso file to a CD/DVD with any burnning program, such K3b on GNU/Linux or cdrtfe on MS Windows, and remeber to choose "Burn Image" to burn the ISO file on the CD. The CD can then be used to boot the machine you want to image or clone. The step-by-step doc about using InfraRecorder to create Clonezilla live CD could be found here.
  • For USB flash drive or USB hard drive:
To put Clonezilla live on a USB flash drive or USB hard drive, check this doc.
  • For hard drive:
To put Clonezilla live on a harddrive with OS installed already, check this doc.
  • For PXE server:
To put Clonezilla live on a PXE server and boot your client via PXE, check this doc.
If you are interested in creating the Clonezilla live iso or zip file from scratch, check this doc. //New for creating Clonezilla live 2.x!//.3. How to use Clonezilla live ?Please refer to this doc for more details.4. Accounts In Clonezilla live, two accounts are available: (1) account "user" with sudo privilege, password is "live", (2) administration account "root", no password. Therefore you can not login as root, the only way to get root privilege is to login as user, and run "sudo -i" or "sudo su -" to become root.
For better security, it is recommended to change the passwords of user and root by command "passwd" before you allow remote access. When Clonezilla live boots, the ssh service is NOT automatically started, and the setting in /etc/hosts.deny does NOT block any connection. If you want to remotely ssh login into your Clonezilla live, you have to start ssh service by "service ssh start".
5. Advanced modes Some advanced modes are available:
  • Create your own recovery CD or USB flash drive.
  • Use your own script and run it on clonezilla live.
  • Use boot parameters to pre-set some selections
  • The reserved image and device names for the command ocs-sr
