Comrade Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomhole, an extremely powerful man, was officially elected to manage the affairs of his home state, Edo. He has evidently moved the state to an inglorious level where payment of hardly ‘take-home’ salaries is nearly impossible. He is also sitting on top of a state where vices such as kidnapping and cultism are attracting screaming media headlines almost on daily basis.

The parlous economic affairs of Edo State supposed to be Comrade Oshiomhole’s major headache but, he seems not troubled. His major preoccupation, as witnessed in recent times, is primarily to attack the economic policies of the immediate past administration. The major culprit, as the comrade governor consistently project, is Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who served as Finance Minister and Chief Manager of the economy.

Nigeria’s economy is evidently in a very bad shape. A section of the privileged ruling class and the highly impoverished citizens are groaning in acute pains. However, it is truly unclear where the blame must squarely rest. Interestingly, the appropriate quarter is not rolling out credible solutions or even suggesting alternative routes out of the quagmire. Their option, perhaps the only available is to proudly do everything humanly possible to spill every blood in perceived political enemies.

Comrade Oshiomhole was also and still part of the National Economic Council (NEC). He, arguably, played an integral role in the ‘mismanaged’ Nigeria economy. He was constitutionally and morally empowered to raise alarm when the economy of Nigerian was hitting the rock. He never did so until the ‘change lyric’ started rocking the airwaves. Isn’t that miscarriage of executive privilege?.
