In the authentic current of Guru-paramparฤ, ๐ฤซ๐คแนฃฤ (๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง) is not a mere ceremony, nor a social or institutional formalityโit is the ๐๐ฐ๐๐ค๐๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅโ๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐. ลrฤซla Jฤซva Goswฤmฤซ has defined it profoundly in ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ฌ๐ต๐ช-๐ด๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐ฃ๐ฉ๐ข (283):

โtrue ๐ฅฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤ is that process by which ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ and all previous sinful tendencies are destroyed. When genuine initiation descends through a bona fide Guru, ๐ข๐ญ ๐ซ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐, dissolving all prior material engagements and opening the path to spiritual life.
ลrฤซla Bhakti Rakแนฃak ลrฤซdhar Dev-Goswฤmฤซ Mahฤrฤj has given a deeply illuminating analogy: we are like a lost child, living in a foreign land, dependent on temporary arrangements. But when we rediscover our true home, all those external dependencies naturally fall away. Similarly, through real ๐ฅฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤ, we return โhomeโโto our eternal relationship with ลrฤซ Kแนแนฃแนa. ๐ฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤ is not additionโit is ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.
However, we must confront a sobering reality. In this age, it is very easy to take chanting beads from imitatorsโthose who outwardly pose as Gurus but inwardly pursue ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข (wealth), ๐ฌฤ๐ฎ๐ช๐ฏฤซ (sense enjoyment), and ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ชแนฃแนญ๐ฉฤ (prestige). Such persons have little to no genuine submission to their own Gurus. From them, one may receive a form, a ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ณ๐ข, even a titleโbut not ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง. In such cases, we merely adopt the ๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ญ๐๐, while remaining disconnected from the transcendental current. This is not ๐ฅฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤโit is imitation.
Therefore, we must carefully examine: ๐๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ฤ๐ฤ๐ซ๐ฒ๐๐ฌ? If our so-called Guru does not guide us according to what ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ค๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฐ๐๐ฆ๐ข ๐๐๐กฤ๐ซฤ๐ฃ, ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ค๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฏ-๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฐฤ๐ฆฤซ ๐๐๐กฤ๐ซฤ๐ฃ, ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐.๐. ๐๐ก๐๐ค๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฤ๐ง๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฐฤ๐ฆฤซ ๐๐๐กฤ๐ซฤ๐ฃ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ฉฤ๐, ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ค๐ญ๐ข ๐๐๐คแนฃ๐๐ค ล๐ซฤซ๐๐ก๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฏ-๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฐฤ๐ฆฤซ ๐๐๐กฤ๐ซฤ๐ฃ, ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ค๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ข๐๐๐กฤ๐ง๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฐ๐๐ญฤซ แนฌ๐กฤ๐ค๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ฉฤ๐, ล๐ซฤซ๐ฅ๐ ๐ลซ๐ฉ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฐฤ๐ฆฤซ, ๐๐ง๐ ล๐ซฤซ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐๐กฤ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ have taughtโthen on what basis can we claim to belong to the ล๐ซฤซ ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ญ๐๐ง๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฐ๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง? Without alignment to this living current, the claim is empty. The connection is not real.
๐ฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤ means to be connected to a ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐งโnot an abstract spirituality, not a self-made path. If that current is absent, then however impressive the external form may be, the substance is missing. One may chant, serve, and preach, but without proper connection, ๐ข๐ญ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐, not the transcendental domain.
The scriptures further guide us in the proper cultivation of initiation. The ninefold path of devotion is given in ลrฤซmad Bhฤgavatam (7.5.23โ24):

โHearing, speaking about, and remembering Kแนแนฃแนa, serving His lotus feet, worshipping His Deity form, praying, becoming His servant, cultivating His friendship, and surrendering to Him utterly are the nine processes of devotion. One who cultivates these nine processes of devotion, offering himself completely to Kแนแนฃแนa, can easily attain the ultimate goal of life.โย
These processes are the ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฤซ๐คแนฃฤ, but they must be practiced under proper guidance, in harmony with Guru-varga.
So let us be sober and sincere. Dฤซkแนฃฤ is not cheap, and it is not automatic. It requires ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก, ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ. We must seek a Guru who is not self-centred, but ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ-๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐โone who lives to fulfil the desire of his predecessors, not his own ambition.
Only then can the ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ณ๐ข truly awaken within the heart. Only then can the soul transcend illusion. And only then can we genuinely say that we have received ๐ฅฤซ๐ฌแนฃฤ in the line of ลrฤซ Chaitanya Saraswat and are progressing toward the eternal service of ลrฤซ ลrฤซ Rฤdhฤ-Kแนแนฃแนa.
