When genuine initiation descends through a bona fide Guru, ๐ข๐ญ ๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ž, dissolving all prior material engagements and opening the path to spiritual life.

ลšrฤซla Bhakti Rakแนฃak ลšrฤซdhar Dev-Goswฤmฤซ Mahฤrฤj has given a deeply illuminating analogy: we are like a lost child, living in a foreign land, dependent on temporary arrangements. But when we rediscover our true home, all those external dependencies naturally fall away. Similarly, through real ๐˜ฅฤซ๐˜ฌแนฃฤ, we return โ€œhomeโ€โ€”to our eternal relationship with ลšrฤซ Kแน›แนฃแน‡a. ๐˜‹ฤซ๐˜ฌแนฃฤ is not additionโ€”it is ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

However, we must confront a sobering reality. In this age, it is very easy to take chanting beads from imitatorsโ€”those who outwardly pose as Gurus but inwardly pursue ๐˜ฌ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ๐˜ข (wealth), ๐˜ฌฤ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏฤซ (sense enjoyment), and ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ชแนฃแนญ๐˜ฉฤ (prestige). Such persons have little to no genuine submission to their own Gurus. From them, one may receive a form, a ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข, even a titleโ€”but not ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง. In such cases, we merely adopt the ๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š๐ง ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐๐ž๐ฏ๐จ๐ญ๐ž๐ž, while remaining disconnected from the transcendental current. This is not ๐˜ฅฤซ๐˜ฌแนฃฤโ€”it is imitation.

Therefore, we must carefully examine: ๐ˆ๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐†๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ ๐Ÿ๐š๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ฤ๐œฤ๐ซ๐ฒ๐š๐ฌ? Without alignment to this living current, the claim is empty. The connection is not real.

๐˜‹ฤซ๐˜ฌแนฃฤ means to be connected to a ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ ๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐งโ€”not an abstract spirituality, not a self-made path. If that current is absent, then however impressive the external form may be, the substance is missing. One may chant, serve, and preach, but without proper connection, ๐ข๐ญ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ž, not the transcendental domain.

The scriptures further guide us in the proper cultivation of initiation. The ninefold path of devotion is given in ลšrฤซmad Bhฤgavatam (7.5.23โ€“24):

โ€œHearing, speaking about, and remembering Kแน›แนฃแน‡a, serving His lotus feet, worshipping His Deity form, praying, becoming His servant, cultivating His friendship, and surrendering to Him utterly are the nine processes of devotion. One who cultivates these nine processes of devotion, offering himself completely to Kแน›แนฃแน‡a, can easily attain the ultimate goal of life.โ€ย 

These processes are the ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ฤซ๐คแนฃฤ, but they must be practiced under proper guidance, in harmony with Guru-varga.

So let us be sober and sincere. Dฤซkแนฃฤ is not cheap, and it is not automatic. It requires ๐Ÿ๐š๐ข๐ญ๐ก, ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐œ๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ. We must seek a Guru who is not self-centred, but ๐†๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ-๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐โ€”one who lives to fulfil the desire of his predecessors, not his own ambition.

Only then can the ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข truly awaken within the heart. Only then can the soul transcend illusion. And only then can we genuinely say that we have received ๐˜ฅฤซ๐˜ฌแนฃฤ in the line of ลšrฤซ Chaitanya Saraswat and are progressing toward the eternal service of ลšrฤซ ลšrฤซ Rฤdhฤ-Kแน›แนฃแน‡a.
