Hi Folks:
There had been talk a while back about trying to arrange a
Community_Managers_PDX event at the Community Leadership Summit. Most
likely there isnt' time for anything formal...but perhaps we can
arrange to connect at some point at the event for those folks who want
to come together...and maybe we can provide support for folks from out
of town who need to guidance in getting the most out of their visit to
Portland.

Hi Everyone,
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jono Bacon and I
founded the Community Leadership Summit and organize the event with my
fellow team of organizers.
This year we are excited about another exciting CLS, and the event is
shaping up to be a wonderful weekend of sharing best practice,
experience, learning new techniques and approaches, and otherwise
furthering the profession and art of community management and
leadership. CLS has become a wonderful event for not only learning and
sharing knowledge, but also for networking, and meeting new friends
and acquaintances.
The event takes place from Sat 14th July 2012 - Sun 15th July 2012 in
Portland, Oregon. You can find out details of the event at

attendees at http://www.communityleadershipsummit.com/attendees/ - you

I just wanted to follow up with some further details about the
event...

The doors open for the event on Saturday 14th July 2012 at 9am and
there will be plenty of coffee. The opening plenary will then begin at
10am and scheduling will start shortly after that. For those of you
new to CLS: the event uses an un-conference format in which the
attendees can volunteer sessions and drive the content of the event.
We do this from 10am - 11am on each day.
Everyone who leads a session will be provided with a free print copy
of my book The Art of Community (thanks to Adobe for contributing
these). :-)
Remember: you will need to be there at 10am to contribute session
topics and participate in shaping the schedule.

to ensure we can get as many folks to the event as possible so we can

That sounds cool...
Do you need anything to do that. We don't really have a kitty /
budget. I gave $100 last time...but that was out of my pocket. I would
be happy to make a personal donation to help offset the cost of your
event either Friday or Saturday....which would you choose as the event
to have this group sponsor...your call.
Let me know what you're thinkin'?

Originally I was hoping that we could somehow participate as a group at the leadership summit, but have been too busy. I was hoping to continue doing our community manager meet up, but don't have the time anymore. Maybe this fall I can start the meetups again or someone else can.

KERRY: Totally understand the feeling, No worries...Thanks for all the
support in resurrecting things.
OTHER CM PDX GROUP FOLKS:
For the Community Leadership Summit next weekend:

Perhaps we can put up a little identifying sign at the Friday or
Saturday party to self identify, once we figure out from Nate which
event we should officially sponsor.
Future Events:

We'll just attempt to keep things going as we can. I'll see if we can
keep up the 3rd Tuesday schedule....but perhaps begin in September
since the Community Leadership Summit is this month and so many people
go on vacation in August. I could use the support in the work I'm
doing as a CM now, and may be looking for alternative positions at
some point soon. If anyone knows of CM positions that are open, please
do let me know! :-D
