Nice. Even more reason why we should organize a CommunityCamp ;)

Bram, have you heard anything about space at W+K?

Not yet, good sir. But this may be because I am specifically looking to use the PIE space for this rather than the agency itself, and people here know less about them. Do you think that this space could work for CommunityCamp?

I think break-out space is pretty limited at PIE. Can do full-group sessions there, but we'd need space in the agency as well. I know Ziba wants to do unconferences, but they too struggle with client confidentiality.

On the flip, the whole meme was started by Amber's assertion that agencies can't yet articulate the value of social effectively. There's a good chance that the usual agency economics too. I think an event that helps reveal the value would benefit both the agency and their clients. At a minimum we can organize it at another space and you can evangelize internally

I can probably get Nedspace Old Town to sponsor space.

Your assumption is correct, but if nothing else, then my department is working on convincing teams who design for other clients that community is valuable (and therefore would be worth a manager’s position for! :)

Let’s keep shopping around for space, then. If PIE couldn’t work, then The Art Institute of Portland is very open towards this idea: I’ve organized everything from Typophile Film Fest (obviously) to Lunch 2.0 in the past with them, and they also hosted a couple New Communicators events.

After more reflection - I've determined that I'm still not strong enough for a full day in PDX.  Hope it's a good meet-up for y'all!  Sorry I'll miss it.
