What if we set ourselves a goal of having a series of kick-ass conversations that are in parallel to CHIFOO? http://www.chifoo.org/  Here’s Nancy Hoffman’s call for next year?

Call for Speakers for our 2013 Speaker Series: Yup it's that time again! Submit your talk on our theme: "Quantifying Kick-ass".

We've heard it all before: "The next killer app." "A technology game-changer." "The future of computing: It's here, and we built it!" In the field of User Experience, we've grown sadly accustomed to hyperbole, to the point where every product launch includes the promise that a company's latest app, device, or operating system will revolutionize life as we know it.
But how many claims come anywhere even close to the truth? And, how would we know if they were true? How can we quantify "Kick-Ass?"
In its 2013 Speaker Series, CHIFOO explores this struggle: "Quantifying Kick-Ass." The theme has two parts - the "kick-ass" part and the "quantifying" part. While quantifying would seem the easier of the two, how do we quantify what makes something unique, special and memorable? Kick-ass is in the eye of the beholder, right? And - What does one measure? How does one measure it, and how do the results stack up on a mega-scale?

Please contact program chair Nancy Hoffman for a submission packet. Earlier is better.
