Some doc on this would be helpful, it is one of the major source of
conflict in the world, but i really don't think it's fair to pick a
side. there is a lot of racial hate, religious conflict, and both
internal and international politics at play.
for example, this "war" (not much of a war, more of a beating) in
January is clearly in preparation for the election in Israel. The
leadership needs to show that it can handle security issues so the
opponent can't point to that and call it a lack of leadership.
however it can't be said that israel was unprovoked, leading up to the
January offense, israel lead international journalist on a tour of all
the rockets that have been launched in to their lands, and saying,
repeatedly, if this is not stopped, we will launch a major offensive.
Yeah i agree that the not all Palestinian are extremists, of course
not, but only a handful of extremists with rocket launchers are needed
for the Israelis to feel threatened, and even less for the political
party to feel that their image is threatened.
more interestingly, US just had it's own completely unprovoked war. US
under Clinton, put in major efforts in the peace process, some experts
say that they were really really close. then bush steps in, and fucks
it all up, by attack iraq for no reason. Now the US has no credibility
left in the peace process. and no new leader in the peace process has
stepped up.
and this has not taken in to account the antisemitism in Muslim
extremist, nor the fundamental jews within israel who believe that
they are entitled to Gaza (some believe more) because it was promised
by god. although these are the few on both sides, they sure make
themselves heard.
kyle, i am not saying your stance is wrong, i am just saying it's a
shit load more complicated, and i would caution against taking a
stand. i don't dare to pick a side.
