For the fourth year running, Careers in Sport LIVE (formerly known as the National Sports Roadshow) travelled the breadth of the UK, delivering motivational presentations and careers advice to sports enthusiasts and students alike.
Next stop: the fantastic facilities at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where hundreds of students and sports enthusiasts observed and participated in a variety of live demonstrators, including Rush Hockey, Powerhoop and Bokwa, with the latter certainly motivating the crowd to try the latest fitness craze currently sweeping the global health and fitness markets! We were also delighted to welcome the producers and presenters of the local TV station Made In Cardiff to the event. Our Keynote speaker was Welsh sporting hero Non Evans MBE, who gave a passionate presentation about her life as an athlete, and how after injury she found a new career as a radio and TV presenter, before starting her own health and fitness site.
Our pre-Christmas took place at Brunel University, and with the event selling out weeks in advance, we knew that this would be a busy show. With over 40 exhibitors present, and various halls to showcase the Sports, Careers and Fitness zones, there really was something for everyone. The Chelsea Foundation was a popular point of call, as sports enthusiasts battled against a timer to be the first across a line. Rochelle Clark was on hand once again to give a Rugby taster session, while Karl Sylvester, Community and Regional cricket coach for Middlesex Cricket Board entertained with some nifty cricket ball catching. There was also a lively game of Aussie Rules Football, and the guys at Wild Training entertained the crowds with practical sessions using Titan bags, battling ropes and parallettes. And the highlight of the day had to be British Olympic skiing legend turned TV presenter Graham Bell interview the London Broncos on stage, giving us a fascinating insight into the regime, dedication and attitude needed to be a professional athlete at the very top of your game.
