Because we try in our own strength instead of reliance on His strength.

I don't think it turns out to be the opposite...I think when we get closer and pursue Him it means WE need to make the hard choices which feels hard. The closer we get the more that is required of us TO DO WHAT TRUTH DEMANDS. That's where GRACE comes in. As we are learning grace (HIS GRACE) given to ME freely works through ME to accomplish in MY life what HE who IS TRUTH demands, including my personal intimate relationship with HIM . For me I need TO BE MORE INTENTIONAL about letting that grace flow through me. I don't think it's a matter of asking for more grace but living in the grace He has already given me which AGAIN requires more intention on my part which often time FEELS like WORK so it's a big circle. It shouldn't feel like work if I'm I'm letting grace flow through me because GRACE EMPOWERS!
CONCLUSION:....WALKING IN MORE GRACE REQUIRED.
