How to Install EB3T-V3-eGPU on Laptop PC

2.2    EB3T-eGPU Installation on Windows PC

1.    Install Thunderbolt Software.  Go to Software Installation chapter. When done installing the software, firmware and Windows updates, proceed to step 2.
2.    Plug in the GPU card into PCIe slot.  Slowly push the card down until it is seated firmly into the slot.
3.    Secure the GPU card.
4.    Attach the aux power cables to the GPU
5.    Connect all external monitors to the  eGPU.  Plug in the DP cable to the cable port of the eGPU.
6.    Connect the power cord to the EB3T-V3-eGPU unit.
7.    Connect Thunderbolt3 cable to EB3T-V3- eGPU .  Do not connect the other end of the Thunderbolt cable to the Windows Laptop PC yet.
8.    Turn ON the Windows PC laptop.
9.    Connect the other end of Thunder 3 cable to Windows laptop.  ExpressBox 3T- eGPU will turn ON immediately.
10.    Authenticating a Newly Attached Device.  See instructions below.

When first connecting a Thunderbolt 3 device, it must first be authenticated through Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 software. To do so you can use the below instructions as a guide,  After connecting a Thunderbolt 3 device, the first thing that you should see (assuming that the system NVM, BIOS, drivers, etc are up to date and compatible) is an automatic notification above the system tray notifying you that a new device has been attached. Click OK to proceed.

After clicking OK, you will get a Windows User Account Control (UAC) popup asking if you “want to allow this app to make changes to your PC?”. Click Yes:
After clicking YES, you should see a windows popping up prompting you to approve the Thunderbolt 3 device that was just attached.             Click on the drop down menu where it says “Do Not Connect” and select “Always Connect”. Then click OK:
To view the attached devices and manage the approved devices you can find the program sitting in the system tray. You may need to click the caret (up arrow icon) to show all of the running programs then right click on the Thunderbolt icon it and select Manage Approved Devices. You may again get a Windows UAC prompt, click YES. After clicking yes the below window will open and you can see any approved devices and remove them if you choose.

11.    The GPU card is detected.
12.    Install GPU software / driver.  For NVIDIA GPU installation. Go to  Chapter 6 .
13.    When done installing the eGPU software, shutdown the Windows laptop computer completely.
14.    Disconnect the Thunderbolt cable from EB3T-V3-eGPU unit.
15.    Turn ON the host computer without connecting the EB3T-V3-eGPU Thunderbolt device.
16.    After the Windows laptop computer has started UP, reconnect the Thunderbolt cable to EB3T-V3-eGPU unit.
a.     The EB3T-V3-eGPU should turn ON.
b.    GPU card should be enumerated.
c.    Wait for 60-80 seconds  before the external monitors are initialized. All external monitors should be up and running
