Product: EB7 (ExpressBox 7)
Question: The EB7 chassis's front fan now spins like as its almost full speed at all the time. Is there a way to minimize or to slow down the speed of it?
Answer: The 1st thing I would check is to make sure the switch that enables/disables the thermistor control circuit of the fan is not switched ON. It is labeled SW10 on the mother board and is located directly below the card cage fan on the top of the mother board. Reference image below; the switch should be pushed to the off position as indicated by the arrow. When SW10 is in the OFF position the thermistor circuit controls the fan speed so that it runs at low speed unless the thermistor detects elevated temperatures and increases the fan speed.
NOTE
The default set up is S10 in the OFF position so the thermistor circuit controls fan speed (ie. It should run at slow speeds unless elevated temperatures are detected. And our testing has shown that Protools applications should not cause elevated temperature requiring full speed operation.)
