 How to check  EB3T-V3-eGPU  and GPU card on Mac OS

 How to check EB3T-V3-eGPU 
This is applicable to Mac OS 10.13 and higher

After connecting the EB3T-V3-eGPU  hardware, the next step is to verify the installation  on Mac.

1.    Select and click the Apple logo from the Apple menu
2.    Select and click “About This Mac”
3.    Select and click “System Report”
4.    Select  “Hardware” and expand the arrow sign.
a.    Look for “Thunderbolt”, select it. Within the Thunderbolt Device Tree, select and click “Thunderbolt Bus 0, expand or collapse the arrow,   you should see “EB3T-V3-eGPU . See photo below.

You should see “EB3T-V3-eGPU ”, select it and you should see the  following info.
Vendor Name as Magma
Device Name as EB3T-V3-eGPU
Vendor ID: 0x19
Device ID: 0x2


4.1.2  How to check GPU card device

•    Open Apple System Profiler by choosing “About this Mac” from the Apple () menu.
•    Then, click “System Report”.
•    Click PCI. You should see the  GPU card that is present in the EB3T-V3-eGPU  unit. 
•    AMD card is detected / recognized on Apple Systen Profiler>> PCI, see photo below.


Only AMD GPU cards are supported on Mac platfom.


4.3  Thunderbolt- Aware Driver is required for  GPU card
For Mac OS, a Thunderbolt Aware (Compatible) driver is required because it allows cards to be detected.  Ensure you have a “Thunderbolt Aware or Thunderbolt Compatible” driver from the GPU card manufacturer otherwise the PCIe card will not function properly. Check with the manufacturer of the GPU card.
If the driver is installed, make sure it supports Thunderbolt.
•    If the driver does not support Thunderbolt you will see a message “Driver Installed: No

Click on the specific PCIe card in question to see if it is Thunderbolt Compatible.  If it shows “Yes” then it is compatible.

We do not provide / supply any third party PCIe or GPU drivers.  If you need driver for your PCIe card / GPU card, you must contact the vendor or manufacturer.  If you would like to determine whether the 3rd party PCIe card has a Thunderbolt Compatible driver or not, you must contact the vendor or manufacturer of the PCIe card.  


4.2  How to check  EB3T-V3-eGPU  and GPU card on Windows 10
4.2.1  How to check EB3T-V3-eGPU
There are two ways to check the attached Thunderbolt 3 device. You can utilize the Windows Device Manager and / or the Thunderbolt Software program.
4.2.1.1  Using  the Thunderbolt Software

You need to have the latest Thunderbolt software version to do this. You can download it from your Laptop PC manufacturer’s website.
•    Open the software by searching the start menu for Thunderbolt.
•    Once open you can find the program sitting in the system tray. You may need to click the caret (up arrow icon) to show all of the running programs then right click on the Thunderbolt icon it and click " View Attached Devices".
 

If you are not seeing the Thunderbolt 3 device, click “Approve Attached Device”, select “Always Connect”
