Question:
What are the differences between EB7, EB7X8-G2 and EB16?

Answer:

The original  EB7, which is x4 Gen1. The EB7 has a mezzanine card, so connect the iPass cable to a connector near the bottom middle of the unit.
The EB7-X8G2, which is x8 Gen2.  The EB7-X8G2 has a separate uplink card that needs to be plugged into the expansion system for connectivity to the host computer.

The difference between the EB7, EB7-X8G2 and the EB16 is the switch.

The 7slot (EB7-X8G2)  has an IDT switch and the 16 slot is PLX switch

Each of these three units has a different speed switch, i.e. x4 Gen1, x8 Gen2 and x16 Gen2.
