Hi Thomas, how are you?Regarding the idea for the inside of the dome, we felt showing pictures was a bit too literal and basic, someone even suggested to drop it and keep just with some lights but that also sounded too basic so eventually, we came up with this new idea. Let me explain a bit better what we discussed and agreed yesterday:Basically, the idea is take advantage of twitter to represent people's thoughts about the future inside our dome. How are we planning to do this?
With a live twitter feed, picking out tweets referring to the future (messages including the word 'tomorrow') and transforming them into points of light. So every time someone around the world tweets a message including the word "tomorrow", inmediatly our system will register that tweet and will turn it into a dot of light that will be displayed inside our dome. All this happening live. The more the people talk about the future (using the word "tomorrow"), the more dots will appear inside the dome. We made a quick test yesterday and the ratio of messages is HUGE. Give it a try: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=tomorrowThe number of tweets with the word tomorrow is amazing! Within a few minutes you'll have thousands of dots floating inside the dome.
How people will interact inside the dome?
There are 2 ways:
a) By touch: this dots will appear on the inside surface of the dome and will stay there, floating around. If someone touch the inside of the dome, the dots will move towards that direction. If many people touch the surface of the dome at the same time, the dots will go towards all those places where the dome is being touched. The people will be able to play with the dots by dragging them around or pushing them to other place.b) By movement: when the surface of the dome it's not being touched, the dots will follow the movement of the people inside of it. So, if there is just one person inside the dome, all the dots will be floating around that person, following him/her wherever he/she goes. If someone else enters the dome, then the dots will divide in groups and will follow both of them. And so on.How will the people cycling outside will affect the inside of the dome? The dots will be provided with energy by the cyclists. The more people cycling outside the dome, the more energy the dots will have so they will move faster and in a more vibrant way. If the people don't cycle, the dots get slow and less brighter. In general, this points of light will flow around the ceiling, a bit like a liquid or gas, visualising the flow of thoughts about the future. Providing an entertaining, fun visualisation to play with within the dome, which is being generated live by people who are talking about their future without even being aware of our dome! :)Regarding the transportability of the dome, as Oliver said, we were thinking that rather than packing it up and physically transporting the dome, all the information, blueprints, code technical details, etc should be made open souce to allow others to create their own versions, or elements of it, and spread the utopian vision.Anyways, let me know if you understand the way this will work and what you think about it. We all think is a nice strong concept.I'll be on skype in case you want to talk about it.Cheers!GusEvery time someone tweets a message including the word "tomorrow", a dot of light will appear inside our dome and will stay floating around.
