I have around 8 saved windows in OC, and until a few weeks ago, when I opened Start Menu and right-clicked the OC icon the menu that appeared contained a list of my saved windows so I could choose which one to use when I opened OC.

But now the list of saved OC windows is no longer present so I have no control over which way OC starts up. It seems to just open the last one I used.

Is this a Windows problem or an OC issue?

That list is rebuilt on each program start and new window creation. Only if you upgrade from a really old version it wouldn't show the list (it's been more than 6 months since any changes to this code).
Do you see all your windows in new window dialog?
Try unpinning OC from taskbar and pinning again. Try creating a new window.

I'm using version 3.103.0.0

I think the change happened at the last upgrade. The upgrade resulted in OC being removed form the Start menu so I added it again and then the list was missing.

I just tried remove from Start and added it again and still no list.

I just deleted an OC saved window and no difference

I just created a new OC saved window and still no list.

The list is present if in the "Open new window" dialog in a running OC, but not on right-click the OC icon in the Start menu.

I tried an install on clean VM and also upgrading from older version to new one but there was still entry in Start Menu and after creating new window and fully closing OC (Ctrl+Close) the new windows still showed up on icon right-click. Try uninstalling OC (it will not affect settings), then clean install the latest 3.104

I uninstalled OC 3.103, downloaded OC 3.104 and installed it.

I also re-started the PC

But still no change.

In the program - open new window...

In the Start menu, right-click...

I tested in Start menu and pinned to taskbar in Windows 11 24H2, Build 26100.7171

One other thing to try is to completely close OC, unpin OC from taskbar and Start menu, Start it directly from C:\program files\OneCommander and then see if it shows the jump list on right-click of the taskbar icon

This is an additional ChatGPT's suggestion:
Rebuild Windows' Jump List cache

Corruption in the AutomaticDestinations cache often stops a single computer from showing jump lists.

  1. Close all apps.

  2. Press Win + R, type:

    %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
  3. Delete ALL .automaticDestinations-ms files
    (Windows will rebuild them automatically).

  4. Restart Windows.

Thank you for the two suggestions.

I tried them both but still no change.

If it helps, here are my Windows details...

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Version 10.0.26200 Build 26200

Maybe Microsoft changed something in that new build. Jumplist is a system function and OC just updates it. Windows itself draws that menu and should show these items. I can check once my PC gets to that version of Windows

I think I found the problem...

Settings, Personalisation, Start...

The jump lists seem to bundled in with the choice of recommended files and recent files (both of which I don't want)

I found the marked item was set "Off". Now with it "On" the jump lists are back on OC.

Good find - that must be recent. That is unfortunate in how they bundled it, as there is no way for me to affect that system menu and jump lists are the only way to add something there. Alternative would be for you to create several shortcuts and add argument with the window to open
...onecommander.exe -openwin yourwindowname
