This doesn't appear to be working right now..

 Click twice to rename
This should behave like the Windows File manager: If you double-click file it will open it, but if you click file twice, slower and don't move mouse much it will initiate rename.

It is not added yet, but I'll add it in the next update after the weekend, but it will be option in the settings. I've gotten some hate mail from users being frustrated that they would initiate rename when they wanted to open, or would open file when they wanted to rename, so it won't be enabled by default.

I can see this is now available in .596, but how would I copy the whole filename? Selection is either the name or the extension but nor both.

I'll see about changing that soon. What were your particular use cases to copy the whole filename? You can copy the whole path with ctrl+shift+C

Sorry to disagree, but I never liked that feature in v2 because I often "started" the rename function instead of opening the file.  And I do not think that OC should behave like explorer.exe and copy its questionable features.  Renaming is an infrequent action and therefore hitting F2 or RMB -> Rename seems appropriate

To be clear, I don't want rename functionality either - I just want an easy way to select the filename and extension to paste elsewhere.
With the new optional 'Rename items by clicking again' checkbox, isn't that the best of both worlds, though?
With it unchecked, you're not going to accidently rename, but with it checked, it should behave in a similar manner to how File Manager operates.

In v2 the criteria was something like: second click on the same place longer than doubleclick and shorter than 2s, and even I was frustrated, but only now I have realized that Explorer doesn't do it like that, but after the second click it again waits before making the text editable. So now OC also waits after the second click for a third click that is shorter than system double-click time, and if it doesn't happen, it initiates rename. I have not tested it much but it eliminates that previous issue. For now it is enabled by default, and if most users turn it off in settings, then it will be off by default for the new users.

I'll replace that text field with the one with that includes both filename and extension, and then will see if there is something better. I still think that it is more often that people want to rename the file without worrying about extension than they want to copy the filename, and I would get frustrated by Explorer that it would prompt if I wanted to change the extension and I really rarely need to do that.

Explorer goes into rename mode if a selected item is clicked again outside of the 'double click to launch' period. It doesn't matter how much the mouse is moved, or how much time passes. This behaviour (right or wrong) is used in File Explorer, XYPlorer, Tablucus, Q-dir, Direttore, etc.

Having to keep the mouse in position and then not knowing how long a 'time window' to wait before the 2nd click works (or overshoots and doesn't work any longer) seems less intuitive. I feel like if I click too quickly I end up running an app, or too slowly and I have to start over.

I will remove the limitation to have the second click in the same place but I don't think if makes sense that even after 30 seconds the second click should initiate a rename.
