Hi Milos,

I’d like to suggest an improvement to OC’s address bar navigation. Currently, jumping across multiple levels (over 3 levels in my experience) in the directory hierarchy is cumbersome. Users must hover over each collapsed directory in the side panel to see tooltips before identifying the target folder, which is time-consuming and less intuitive.

In contrast, Windows File Explorer uses a breadcrumb-style navigation in the address bar:

  • Small arrows between directories allow users to expand and view sibling directories at that level.

  • This enables quick navigation across multiple levels without manually inspecting each folder.

Implementing a breadcrumb-style address bar in OC—applicable only when the address bar is not being edited—would provide this enhanced navigation experience without changing any of OC’s core features. It would be a tremendous usability improvement that makes cross-level directory jumps more efficient.

Thank you for considering this feature request.

Columns view doesn't have address bar since the path is already there in pane titles and duplicating everything above would look bad. Also, clicking dropdown in address is 1 click, and clicking the folder itself to show that same content is also 1 click, so it is not saving any clicks

Thank you for your reply. I understand your point about the titles in Columns view making a separate address bar redundant.

My apologies if my initial explanation was unclear. The core benefit I was aiming for is the ability to preview (and then potentially navigate)  the hierarchy of other branches in the directory tree without navigating away from the current view

With your feedback in mind, I've sketched out a new idea that avoids the display-duplication problem entirely. Inspired by the "Expand to open folder" behavior in File Explorer's navigation pane, perhaps a dedicated button could be added. In the mock-up below, I've placed it just to the left of the sorting options, which would open a view for rapid multi-level preview and navigation. This would keep the UI clean while still delivering the powerful navigation enhancement.

Thank you for your consideration.
