I've spent an hour on this and it's driving me crazy.

I'm migrating from an old PC to a new one. I wasn't able to figure out how to migrate settings from one device to another so I'm doing a manual settings setup on my new PC.

This is the setup on my old machine. The old machine has just one pane.

I cannot figure out how to get a single-pane layout on the new PC. I think this should be painfully obvious, but I can't figure it out. What am I missing?

Even then, I have 2 panes--one on top of the other. I only want to see one pane.

Between the panels there's some tiny buttons (arrows) to hide one of the panels

Milos really gotta make those more evident (pretty sure that was discussed already, other conversation/s)

Holy cow!

I saw all the ones that collapse right-and left, but didn't at all see the up-down ones. Thanks so much for pointing them out!

Thanks Emanuel for helping! I am working on a single-pane windows but will take some time. I am reluctant to make splitters larger as taking the full length or width of the window at 24-32dip resizer thickness just for 2 buttons seems like a lot of space would be wasted. I've borrowed that idea from Houdini and other similar 3D software and I am aware not everyone has been using those and are looking for the expand/collapse functionality elsewhere. If someone has an idea how that could be handled that would be easier than the existing two buttons, please let me know.
