I installed three BETAs to find the following related to FLAC playback failures:

BETA 0.0.52 -- FLAC playback fails and does not work per this post:  https://groups.google.com/g/onecommander/c/_E6kn54E1Yg/m/KSdogUr7AAAJ
BETA 0.0.53 -- FLAC  playback works perfectly in all tabs
BETA 0.0.54 -- FLAC  playback works perfectly in all tabs

The changes fix FLAC playback.  Removing these changes again breaks FLAC playback.

Please note that there were some performance concerns.  I notice zero performance issues.  However, my computer has significant power:

Thanks for checking. As of performance, playing a file through OC with this should roughly affect the system in the same way as playing the same file from any video player based on FFmpeg. There are some additional settings related to playback offered by the underlaying library but I have not tested it yet. Currently hardware rendering is used, but it may show some rendering artifacts but it had no problem playing 8000x4000 video at 60fps; the old system was not capable of that

I played an existing MP4 file under the latest VLC player then under OneCommander 0.0.54.0 configured to use FFmpeg (FlyleafLib) .  Both videos looked the same.  I saw no difference.  Also, there were no performance issues or delays observed.  I have the latest Quadro NVIDA drivers installed.  The card does support hardware video decoding within its drivers.
