Hi everyone,

My apologies that it's been a long time without much discussion or news on this list. There has been a good reason, though!

The One Click Orgs core team has been busy this summer/autumn with a project in collaboration with Co-operatives UK[1] and NESTA[2]. We've been building a new kind of organisation into One Click Orgs: the multi-stakeholder co-operative, incorporated as an Industrial and Provident Society.

Two weeks ago we announced the project[3] at the Co-operatives United international conference in Manchester, and we're starting a closed beta programme soon. So it seemed like a good time to share what's been going on with the code.

The work on this organisation type has brought a lot of new features to the One Click Orgs codebase. Here are some highlights:

* More features around announcing and minuting meetings, including associated proposals.
* A System for holding electronic elections of directors.
* Offices (e.g. 'secretary', 'chairperson'), which directors can be appointed to.
* A tool that fills in PDF forms (e.g. for registering a company).
* A way of tracking and notifying people about governance tasks they need to complete.
* More complete recording of the history of director and officer appointments and retirements.
* More complete recording of the lifecycle of individual memberships.
* A system for recording share ownership and transactions.
* More data-oriented storage for constitutions (for example, we can track the location of particular articles as the constitution is amended, and keep references consistent).
* A per-installation admin section.
* A simple theming system.

All of the new code currently lives in a branch called 'coop'[4]. Before too long, we will merge this work back into the master branch, and start enhancing our existing organisation types (association and company) with pieces of this new functionality as appropriate.

In addition, some of the features have been pulled out into new libraries:

There is code review, refactoring and documentation to do before the merge and eventual release happens (we will be using Github Issues to help organise this). But you can certainly check out the new code today and have a poke around.

Looking forward to working with you on all this new stuff!

Thanks,
Chris
