Hi Alex,

Can you provide a link to the documentation you are using? Some of
our documentation is rather outdated and may have led you astray.

But to start with:
* the master branch is currently at java 1.8 compliance
* branch v2.1 is at 1.11

* the GUI is deprecated and likely doesn't work anymore.
