Hi all,

I'm the new maintainer of onebusaway-gtfs-modules.

I would like to let you know that I've opened a PR about removing non-standard fields from trips.txt: https://github.com/OneBusAway/onebusaway-gtfs-modules/pull/284

The fields in question are:
  • routeShortName
  • continuousDropOffMessage
  • drtMaxTravelTime
  • drtAdvanceBookMin
  • drtDropOffMessage
  • continuousPickupMessage
  • continuousDropOffMessage

If you have any comments, are affected by this change or can provide some context about these fields, please do so in the PR.

Many thanks
Leonard

Leonard - Amr, the new maintainer of the OBA Android app, raised a question with me about this PR: both the iOS and Android apps make use of the routeShortName field. Assuming that a transit agency is using your libraries for manipulating their GTFS data, will this mean that the routeShortName field is no longer available via the API?

This is removing routeShortName from trips.txt, which is non-standard (and non-sensical in my view).

Are you perhaps talking about the one from routes.txt which is the correct place and defined by the standard?

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I think you're right—that shouldn’t affect either app.
