I'm trying to set up JRC as a KVM between two computers connected via
a router.

Do I need a crossover cable with the router or should the connect work
with a standard RJ45 patch cable?

Hi,

since you have a router between the machines you need a standard RJ45
patch cable.
You would only need a crossover cable if you connect two machines
directly (with the crossover cable), without a router, switch, hub or
etc. between them.

Zampano: Tks for confirmation that only a standard patch cable
required.

I've got JRC started on the server machine and JCR loaded on client
machine.

I'm attempting to connect via a NetGear router; and leaving the tunnel
host unchecked on both machines.

I've accepted all auto entered values except I've entered the same
self-selected password on both machines.

BUT I'm not getting any joy when I click Connect on the client
machine.

Any suggestions as to where I should be looking to achieve an active
connection ?

Hi,
You need to enter the IP address of the server. From memory I think
it defaults to 127.0.0.1

To find the server IP address on Windows, open a DOS window and type
ipconfig.
The server IP address needs to be entered for both the client and the
server.

The server is the PC that you are trying to connect to.

The server address and port should match on both the server and
client.

Hope that helps
