I haven't done anything for the past couple of months and I'm feeling pretty guilty about that. So I'm determined to get something done this month. And I'm happy that I've got something to the stage where I'm able to talk about it.
My game idea is based on this meme:
Someone has given a baby a helium balloon, but -- oh no! -- the baby is too light and is being carried away by the balloon! So you have to hop into your food-shooting airplane and shoot food at the baby to make him fatter and fatter so he floats back down to the ground. Hit the baby anywhere but the mouth and you'll be met with a wave of enemy aircraft coming at you. Oh, and you've got a fuel gauge counting down. When that gets to zero, your plane falls out of the sky.
So far, I've got the flying and the shooting mechanics written. Still working on the baby/enemy stuff. I'm also toying with the idea of having different aircraft to choose from. Right now, I just have a biplane, but it might be cool to have, say, a jet that handles totally different to the biplane - totally different rotation speed etc, but has, say, a targeting reticule.
Obligatory screenshot using temporary assets (you can't see here, but the food spins as it comes out of the plane, which is why they're all at weird angles):
