Hey all,

The meetup for this month will take place on Tuesday the 30th of July from 6:30pm, back in Against the Grain. The list has been pretty quiet for the last while, but sitting inside programming probably wasn't the most appealing prospect given the weather we've been having. I know I spent the last month in a heat-induced-daze :)

So even if you didn't manage to get anything done this month do pop along for some games, pints, chats and next month's theme!

Looking forward to seeing you there.
Stephen

Fun!

In an effort not be empty handed two months in a row I'm allocating all of this sunday to game-making. I'm going to try and do the equivalent of a 1day gamejam and see what I can make. If anyone else wants to do the same we can coordinate via the talkerapp chatroom on the day!

Cheers
Colm

Thanks for coming along yesterday everyone. It was great to see a lot of games there too!

Owen, I really think you should put your memory game on the google play store

Here's the game.

I'll have to look into what's involved with the Play store. Although I'd probably need a bit more testing first; I tried it on my phone (original Desire) and it crashes before the first levels begins.

I think I might try this first https://www.fgl.com/mobile-platform/#devs let a publisher handle testing and compatibility.

So I'm going to release my game myself on to the android Play Store, but I need to get some compatibility feedback first (it crashes on my old HTC Desire 2.2). So if anyone has an android device and would like to help out I'd really appreciate it!

Here's the app apk

So if you can let me know how it performs and what device/version you are using that would be great.

Thanks!

Oh cool. I'll try this on my Nexus 7 and Xperia Ray tonight and let you know how it gets on. Should have the results for you before morning anyway.

Nice one Owen! Did you try the FGL sponsorship route at all?

Sergio and I just ran it on Swrve's Kindle Fire - everything worked fine

Thanks guys!

I hadn't put it up on FGL as I figured there wouldn't be much demand for that sort of thing from flash portals, and I still don't have an entirely clear picture of how their mobile deal works. I suppose there is little harm it throwing it up, just might delay things a little bit.

Nexus 7 on 4.3 and Xperia Ray on 4.0.4 both work fine.

Thanks guys, that's great. If I'm going to do it myself, to the Play Store at least, it looks like I'll be limiting it to 4.0 and above as I've had reports of it being very jumpy on Gingerbread, and 4+ has the most market share now anyway.
If I go the FGL route with a publisher, which I might do anyway since it would then be up on a load more marketplaces/stores, then I'll see if they can get it running smoothly (you just provide the SWF and they package it up).
