As the title said, in my research I need to log user touch screen events, mainly gestures(such as tap, scroll, swipe, etc) when a user is using another app. Currently I can't figure out a good way of doing it. It seems that for Android 4.x the touch screen events can not be read out? Anyone knows any good methods to capture the touch events?
1- First we tried to put a transparent layout(like a layer of glass on above the phone screen) which covers the phone screen and then receive the touch events and dynamically removing the glass so that the event could be passed to below the glass and then dynamically inserting the glass again.But the drawback was that it require two times tap which is not feasible (because 1st tap would give the touch coordinate and second touch would be passed below the glass).
2- Then we tried to use one special flag in window manager i.e. flag_watch_outside_touch by making the transparent layout size 1 X 1 but we were getting touch coordinates as (0,0) because Android Framework imposes security that no other process can get touch points inside other process.
3- Then we tried to run command "adb shell getevents" through code but it was not accepting touch events (although by using "adb shell sendevent" we were able to se send global touch events i.e. by passing a coordinate we were able to pass event on particular coordinate on the device screen.
4- Now we were quite sure that without rooting no App can get global touch events that will happen on some other app process. Android security will not allow this otherwise any app can passwords or other user input data.
So we cannot capture global touchevents inside an app through code but yes we can capture from OS level by executing getevent command from adb shell.That we can the pass to android app by storing it into external storage inside phone storage .
I have tried multiple things (even asked a question on Stackoverflow: Android - Inactivity/Activity regardless of top app). I came to the conclusion that using an "Accessibility Service" is the closest we can come to knowing when a user has touched the screen. This isn't fool proof, however. You will not get an event for every screen touch (scrolling in Chrome didn't yield any events).
With that said, if your application can rely on a rooted solution then it's possible to listen to incoming lines from getevent ( ). These lines simply give details of touch (and other) events. But this requires root access so it might not be an acceptable solution.
As amarnathpatel said its almost impossible to get touch events without root.But there is an workout through which we can get events but not the co-ordinates.It is done using FLAG_WATCH_OUTSIDE_TOUCH.check this out.
When the apparent visual location of a body part conflicts with its veridical location, vision can dominate proprioception and kinesthesia. In this article, we show that vision can capture tactile localization. Participants discriminated the location of vibrotactile stimuli (upper, at the index finger, vs. lower, at the thumb), while ignoring distractor lights that could independently be upper or lower. Such tactile discriminations were slowed when the distractor light was incongruent with the tactile target (e.g., an upper light during lower touch) rather than congruent, especially when the lights appeared near the stimulated hand. The hands were occluded under a table, with all distractor lights above the table. The effect of the distractor lights increased when rubber hands were placed on the table, "holding" the distractor lights, but only when the rubber hands were spatially aligned with the participant's own hands. In this aligned situation, participants were more likely to report the illusion of feeling touch at the rubber hands. Such visual capture of touch appears cognitively impenetrable.
Question: how can I capture the number of fingers down (not clicked, just down and potentially moving as you would with a mouse), their corresponding x,y coordinates, and their corresponding up events, for a touch pad on a laptop?
Conclusion:There can be varied number of such settings across varied types of operating system, across varied number of devices such as trackpads, trackballs, touchpads, mouse, magic mouse etc. This gives me a feel that there is a layer between the external hardware and the browser detecting the firing events and this layer is provided by the operating system. Its operating system which manipulate the events according to the user defined/preset settings.
There can be devices which intent to provide and fire multiple events like touch device, on touch they fire multiple events. But that is not the case with all the devices. So it doesn't matter if you are clicking from mouse or from the trackball or from the touchpad or from the touch screen you will get one common event that is a click, there is definitely a possibility that some more events are fired but they are dependent on the type of device and not on the settings you have done in your Operating System.

When considering the touch move rule, I am still unclear about the legal sequence for a capture. Example, white intends to capture a took on a8 with rook on a1 (open file). Does white have to touch black's rook first? The way I read the rule, if white touches a1 first, they can only play a2 through a7, since touching a8 AFTER a1 violates the rule. *This is just letting you know the tool is active, it does not get captured to the image. It does not apply to the capture zone. The Capture will be of the entire frame.
Kindly I am using android Gradle for mobile user experience, and we had a request to disable the capture of user touch on sensors due to security reasons from code level (and not using masking) for example I don't want to capture actions like "touch on 1"
