The Hear Music brand has four components: the music that each location plays; in-store CD sales, including Starbucks exclusives; branded retail stores, which opened shortly after the catalog was formed, and a label distributing their recordings.

As of December 2006, there were four Starbucks Hear Music Coffeehouses: Santa Monica, California, on the Third Street Promenade; San Antonio, Texas, on the River Walk; Miami, Florida, on the Lincoln Road shopping promenade; and Bellevue, Washington, in Bellevue Square.[2] The original, now-defunct Hear Music Store was located in Berkeley, California. Ten Starbucks locations also had Hear Music "media bars," a service which uses tablet PCs to allow customers to create their own mix CDs. The media bars were located in Seattle and in Austin, Texas. The music section in Canadian bookstore chain Chapters was at one time a licensed version of the Hear Music concept; however, the company no longer uses the brand name.

At the same time that Starbucks closed 600 coffeehouses in July 2008, it was announced that the Hear Music label would be shutting down.[3] One of the four Hear Music stores, in Santa Monica, California, indicated that its music operation would be permanently closed approximately September 20, 2008. Another Hear Music store in Bellevue, Washington was converted to a regular Starbucks. The Lincoln Road Miami Beach location was downgraded as well, since November 2008.

I am really new to mixing songs and generally playing with music. I have a hard time figuring out why I can hear the music coming from my headphones as well as my speakers. I googled and I put the Mater Level at 2 o'clock, I have the cue on, the crossfader is in the middle and I still hear the music coming from both outputs.

I always wonder why is it that while on call, the person on other side can hear my voice clearly but can't hear any music/video playing on my phone. Mic fairly picks up any other ambient sound playing on my laptop.

In this case what you hear (media + voice) is not what the other party hears. He hears only your voice. Think of it as you can hear two channels or streams whereas other party can only hear one stream of your voice

Suddenly, I woke up, and it was 3 in the morning, with the music still playing in my ears. With the effects of the dream I had had still fogging over me, I concentrated on the music playing through my headphones to clear my brain. Sure enough, it was Octavarium, and it was at the point right after the climax, where Juilliard-trained keyboardist Jordan Rudess went into a synthesizer arpeggiated solo. It made the dream rush back at me, and I realized that I was listening to music while I was still deep in my REM sleep, and the music had been incorporated into my dream, along with a violent image that otherwise would not have been in my head.

This was a very shocking experience, and one of the clearest and most vivid dreams I have had. I knew I needed to write this before it cleared my head, and I am sharing it with you. I think I have solved the issue that music is still recognized and played in your brain, even if you are in a deep slumber. I even think that music makes your dream even more articulate; in other words, it enhances the clarity of your dream. This is a really cool subject and I hope it happens again so I can explore it further.

To me, I don't know if I experiene music the way you do... (with dreams that is). But when I'm not playing my instrument, or listening to music I'll still hear it. Often, I hear solo Bach or Tchaikovsky's music. I just have this amazing connection to Tchaikovsky's music and love it. If I'm sitting in a classroom, I'll begin to hear the orchestration of the first movement of the concerto in D. Or other times, certain parts of the Canzonetta will be "selected" by my brain and I'll hear them. Just a while ago, I was hearing the second movement of the Souvenir D'un Lieu Cher.

The first dream I remember that integrated conscious music into my subconscious happened when I was four. I dreamed I was being kidnapped, and the kidnappers were trying to pull me into their car. Suddenly, my cousin Rhonda was there. I started singing "Help me Rhonda, help help me Rhonda... Help me Rhonda yeah, get me out of the car!"

I've heard music that was on my CD player in a dream too, but I don't remember it anymore in that much detail. Once I unfortunately fell asleep while attending a seminar and my dream had a plot that followed the seminar for a while, but then it got so weird that I woke up.

Don't. Your hearing is too precious to waste this way. I am experiencing hearing loss. You will too some day and the more your listen to music directly piped into your ears the sooner the day will come. From all you have written it appears that you have the potential to make your income from music. Don't jeopardize it!

Corwin, does music in the ears at a very resonable volume about 2-3 times a week for less than 30 min make that much dammage! If Brian agrees, please tell us! I put Oistrakh's music in my ears when I want to forget my problems before going asleep (I take it off just before going asleep though)! Maybe I'm wrong to think that this is totally secure? Are you sure it isn't the violin that does this? This is much harder for the left ear than a soft volume music in a cd player of ipod. Thanks for you honnesty with everyone! Funny dream by the way, Brian lol

I am not a doctor so I don't know what the limits are. I never have listened to rock music and I am starting (or well on my way) to losing my hearing. I listened to classical music on a Walkman tape player 30 years ago. Perhaps there are other causes as well but I don't think my listening was harmless.

I use a classical music radio station as an alarm each morning and it fascinates me the way the music pervades my dreams. It's actually a great way to start the day, although sometimes it will feel so soothing, I'll decide not to fully wake up. Good thing for noisy, annoying commercial breaks!

I can no longer hear anything from my music on either my iPad or iPhone. I've got IOS v10.0.2, the volum is up to max & I can still hear YouTube and can hear music on the iTunes Store, but nothing at all that is purchased & downloaded from iTunes. Any ideas on what's wrong or how I can fix this please?

Shibata performed the research while on the faculty at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York. The deaf students in the study came from the National Technical Institute of the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Shibata used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to compare brain activity between 10 volunteers from the college and 11 volunteers with normal hearing. They agreed to let Shibata scan their brains while subjected to intermittent vibrations on their hands.

i spent months trying to slam my door by playing my viola badly. it never worked again. i wonder what that experience was like for my parents. i competed in state music competitions in school. they must have wondered why i was intentionally playing noise whenever i practiced.

sound is both a vibration and the programming code for the multiverse. by soaking an area with the right frequencies you can pull back space like a sheet. stepping through the portal is like being backstage at a concert, only the exit will spit you out anywhere you wanted. you could open a portal that ran from your living room to a planet on the other side of the solar system. i heard rumors* of these kind of instruments on the internet, but had never seen one in person.

i felt like i had found someone who was like myself, a rare thing since most of my friends came from internet message boards. piper understood the chaos hiding behind vanilla reality. she saw the world as it appeared as well as the river of gooey possibility running underneath it. she plumbed this river to create artwork that dealt with similar themes as my music. she smelled like lucky charms and she had pretty eyes.

jean practically spelled it out for us, but we never heard her. people like myself, piper, emerson, the twins, even lucius, all come from the anomaly. the otherworldly power i feel as i levitate school busses and hack encrypted messages from outer space? that power is on loan from the anomaly; it does not belong to me.

as he separated from our reality, it got harder for him to see us as well. he kept talking about a fog space, a hazy place that was just outside the house. he could hear us, but it became nearly impossible for him to see as the fog rolled in. i watched him, looking like he was made of smoke, blindly trying to find his way around the house.

i saw lex come home. he was descending through the ceiling above the dining room table. chaos distorted the air in front of me, like the air above pavement on a hot day. the chandelier became a fluid as lex passed through it. the table was shaking. there was a sound so low that i felt it in the pit of my stomach before i heard it. the sound was expanding inside me, pulling me apart. i heard piper calling to lex as she dived through the ceiling after him. my beautiful wife, reaching her slender arm from a hole in space directly above my head. the fissures in reality were glowing bright neon.

All other audio is fine, I can hear the game audio fine, even if I have a world that's only me: it still doesn't produce jukebox sounds. It visually shows that it's playing (the notes come out of the jukebox) but there is no music.

On pocket edition the music pack doesn't come with Minecraft, rather in a form of free DLC from the marketplace. You must download it from the marketplace. The reason it was not included was because they thought the amount of storage the game took up compared to the music was insane, so they decided to make the music optional as to not waste space some users may not have needed. This isn't as big of an issue now since most newer phones and iPads have a lot of storage, but that is why.
